tack weld the perches where you "think" they will go. put it in place. if it works glue it up. if not---break the tacks and rotate to where it makes you happy.

It's all good, how you liking your welder? My Miller 175 is fantastic, I just wish I had the money to go to gas right now. My welds look great but the flux spatter makes the overall job look like hell.
 
I have an off topic question about the 14 bolt...

Did you shave it? Better do it while it's out, it would SUCK doing it in the truck, and it'll probably be a while before you feel like pulling your axle again. They look so much sexier when they're shaved.:p:

The diff housing is in serious need of some oven cleaner yo. No way that "thing" would be in my garage, all greasy and masculine.
 
I hadn't planned on painting it. Or cleaning it up. At all. I figure, I'll fix the leaks and let it heal itself.
