:doah:I shoulda searched first:doah: Is there anything in particular that holds the magnet down in the bottom of the differential housing? I'm "cleaning" the gasket surfaces and pried the magnet out to clean it. Did I do something I shouldn't have? It wasn't held in that strong, but I did have to pry it up.

Please help!!

I used VersaChem's 5min. Epoxy. I cleaned the surfaces with Brakleen first. It appears that it was siliconed down before. The stuff just peeled off by rubbing it with my thumb. Hope the epoxy works. It said it's high strength for metal.:deal:

If anyone thinks this won't work, and I'd be better off with JB Weld, let me know. I haven't filled it with gear oil yet. I can pull the cover and JB Weld it tomorrow.

Thanks in advance!!

I removed mine while cleaning and when i was done i just placed it back into the position and let the magnet itself hold it in place. It's not like it's going to move anywhere on it's own.

This is what i did

This is what i did also, i didn't think it was supossed to be "glued" down, how you take it out and clean it up next time? i guess you could spray it clean w/ compressed air or some kinda solvant if it has gunk on it.

same here. I never thought once about gluing it down just figured its a magnet its gonna stay where I put it. unless it loses its magnetic properties but I dont see that happening anytime soon.

Thanks for the "peace of mind" guys. Alot of this stuff is new to me. The whole reason for this swap is because I lost a 10bolt R&P.:(
