Ok sf = semi float
and
ff= full float? is that right? Can someone explain what that means. Thanks

yes I did search but I cant find $h*t using the search funcion here.

SF is like your 10 and 12 bolts. C clips in the center. If you break an axle shaft then they will "walk out" or the tire would fall over. With a FF your axle shafts bolt to the outer hub letting you roll on even with a broken axle shaft. FF has a larger shaft diameter also I think, larger ring gears 10.5" compared to SF 9.5". I think all of this is correct but I could be wrong also.

To expand a little on the previous post:

In a Semi-Floating axle the axle shafts subjected to the weight of the vehicle and the torque from the motor.

Where as in a Full-Floater the axle shafts are only subjected to torque from the motor.

If this helps, any front axle is a Full-Floater.

SF, There is 1 bearing on the out side of the axle, all the weights on the axleshaft. On a full floater theres an inner and outer bearing on the out side of the axle, like in a front axle.
