:waytogo:I love Chevy305s mount up.
I wish I could mount mine like that. I have a tubular grill and a grill guard with the tubes that come across the middle so I think I'm outta luck unless I take some of that stuff off or run a light bar. But if I run a light bar, the Blazer won't fit in the garage...
Anyways +1 for Chevy305

Thanks :D

Yea, I'm with you on this one. It kinda defeats the purpose of the light in the first place

Yeah the grill will cut down the beam some but believe me mine do just fine.

my grill is different it goes deep back, gotta about 3 inches between the grille and the a/c condensor, then my tranny cooler is in front of that, not that that couldnt be moved but yeah.

Chevy305,
I decided to do this with my k5. Got hold of some 6" 100w Kc Daylighters Thanks for the info with this.
Did you use 1" angle iron for your bracket?

I had some 55watt behind the grill. I mounted them in the location for the air horns on the rad. support. Just punched out the tabs and put an L bracket and mounted them up. The 55watt lights got warm, not sure how 155watt lights would be, You could spray the back of the grill with some hi temp paint if your that worried about it. I didnt lose too much light output behind the grill, but its not optimum for sure.

You're welcome... I believe it was 1". I just picked it up at homedepot and still have some left over.

So is the main concern just the heat from the lights melting the plastic grill? In that case if someone (read: me:D) were to mount some behind an expanded metal grill there should be no problems other than not wanting to touch the grill after expended use right?

I'd be a little concerned about overheating. My radiator is a pile though. Need to get it flushed.

That is true, on hot days I did notice my engine temps run a few degrees more than usual. Not a big deal though as they still never get above 185.

I'd just be worried about towing... with a decent radiator though It shouldn't be a problem.
