Backstory:

I ordered the 16.5x9.75's from Summit two weeks ago and they're on backorder until May 1st (although this seems to be a moving target).

I recently bought a pallet of 100% tread MT/R HMMWV takeoffs and would like to put them on my K10 now before I get to a 60/14b swap in the future.

The K10 is currently street driven (urban curbin') so not worried about running 37's on the D44/12b combo. Will be a few years before I really go wheeling so ok on waiting for beadlocks until then.

I currently have what I believe are 15x12's with 33" tires. Should I stick with the 9.75's and wait it out or go for the 16.5x12"s?

Are there any cons with a 2.25" wider wheel? Weight perhaps?

What would you guys recommend?

16.5 x 9.75 wide with 37x12.50x16.5 goodyear mt just right i think.

12 wide be way to much . good rule if basic wheelin and good looks 2" under width of tire is safe bet.

wider wheel puts more stress on wheel bearings and sticks out past the fenders more also .

it tells me they would ship out 3/21
Same here - BUT when I purchased them the ship date was the next day (3/4). Got the rest of my order a day after; it was only when I checked order status that I saw it was moved to end of March.

Rechecked yesterday and Summit has it as 5/1 on my order now. No communication to me, just looking up my own order status.

Little odd by my books.

thats a good deal, paying less per wheel plus 10% off, and if they will get replaced with beadlocks down the road, i would be trying to spend the least possible. But thats me...also depends if you dont mind white or like you said get them painted.

I have Weld 16.5 x 9.75 rim's that i plan to run MTR takeoff's. I have 35/12.50 16.5 BFG's on them now and the rim's look right for a 12.50 size. Where did you pick up your MTR's and what did you pay for them?

I run 16.5 x 8.75 on my 12.5 inch wide tires. I like it yo be the 4 inch difference to help protect the rim better. I wouldn't run anything over 2 inch difference between tire and rim.

Thanks for the feedback - I appreciate it!

Any difference between the ProComps and the Wagon Wheels? Are the Wagon Wheels insanely heavy compared to the procomps or?

Probly price would be biggest difference. pro comps are on sale now at 4 wheel parts right now. but my 16.5x8.75 keystone wagon wheels were 55 bucks apiece. I also bought then local which meant no shipping cost.

Both are too wide. Look for narrower. Those wide wheels suck to mount the narrow tires on.

Yeah, I hate mounting tires on those things. I prefer 6.5" wheels. Check out my Suburban build thread. I have had a bunch of different wheels and tires on that thing.

Just flipped through the thread - lots of good information.

Think 8.25" wide would be better than 9.75" wide?

One more question: What's the minimum lift required to clear 37" hummer takeoffs without much trimming?

2.5" or 4"?

I ran 37x12.50x165" Hummer take offs on my Suburban with OEM 3 pack front springs with zero rates, factory half ton rear springs with a 2" lift block. A 1" body lift with new body mounts, and some trimming on the front.

Look exactly like mine. Good price and that size will work Perfect. I also left mine white. Looks good with my white top.

Good to hear. Thank you for the feedback! Excited to get them mounted and see how much I have to lift and trim to get it all to fit...

Now I just need to talk you into leaving them white!

Martin
I just don't know how well white goes with the rest of the truck :(
