16x8 tire sizes

I have 16x8 rims. Would like to go to 15x9/10s but for now I like my centerline 16s.

I would like to go to some 37 or 38" tires. Is this possible with what I currently have? What width could I get away with?

Common wisdom would say a 12.5, alot of us have run wider tires on rims like that but anything wider than a 12.5 and you could run into weird wear issues.

I have run a 14.5 on a 8" wide rim but it wasn't for long. Although I have very often run a 12.5 on a 7" wide rim with no adverse affects.
