I finally got a hold of my dad's old truck. The engine's not currently stuck and I had it running roughly 30 years ago. My goal is to just drive it not looking to do a full resto at the moment.

I see a lot of people putting them on late model a an S10 chassis. Should a guy go that route or see if I can get the current stuff to work?

Not sure on that one.

I do like the f100's on crown Vic chassis thing, so an S10 chassis under that could be cool.
But it depends on if you want to tool around with it here and there, or drive it 2 states away.

Tooling around, I'd make it all work as is.
Lots of driving... Maybe upgrade the chassis.

I would work with what you got.

The S10 longbed chassis is close, but not exact. Most that I have seen swapped end up looking a little off.

I would go with Freiburger first. Then you can better asses everything like brakes, shocks, clutch, shifting and see where you're at.

Then you can set about making it look like your avatar!

It depends on what you want to do with it. Driving it around town, just get it running. Freeway drive it, late model swap it.
