That’s the next generation of LS engine. Now called an LT.I guess I'm old. I don't know what you guys are talking about and that looks like a motor from a Honda.![]()
The 5.3L code is L83
The 6.2L code is L86 until ‘19 or ‘20 then it is L84 and L87.

Is that LT different than the LT1?That’s the next generation of LS engine. Now called an LT.

I am looking mileage. I have not researched far enough to find the use for the vacuum pump. The 4 cylinder option is going to be maintained, I hope. The center water pump is off a newer version of what you have. The vacuum pump is only required when the engine is operating in 4cyl mode. That always gets turned off on most tunes. We delete the vacuum pump and block the oil galleys with factory gm plugs from a corvette. You’ll probably have all kinds of room for activities in the panel truck, so you may be able to run it as is. But if you want power steering that’s the best route. All the ICT and Holley pulley kits suck. And they are$$$
You are regressing by buying all of those old trucks and car.I guess I'm old. I don't know what you guys are talking about and that looks like a motor from a Honda.![]()
They are almost the same. Intake, cam and tuning basically. The LT4 is the supercharged versionIs that LT different than the LT1?
I'm always amazed at how you guys can remember the L83, L86, etc. And recognize them in a photo!
From what I understand, the dod is mostly for emissions and doesn’t do much for mileage. BUT, ymmv haha.I am looking mileage. I have not researched far enough to find the use for the vacuum pump. The 4 cylinder option is going to be maintained, I hope.

More conflicting information. I feel like I am at a Biden/Fauci press briefing.Trucks went to full electric steering in 2014 on the 1/2 ton models.
The vacuum pump is there for the power brakes only.
10 speed was designed WITH Ford. Hearing good things about them. DEEP 1st gears and three OD’s.More conflicting information. I feel like I am at a Biden/Fauci press briefing.
I though the pump was for brakes from what I read. I will have to research the cylinder delete process.
Was just talking to my brother. He bought a 2021 1550 4wd. Said it has a 10 speed transmission, by Ford. I guess we know where his failure point will be.
Desertk5’s rig is running his p.s. pump down there but it’s a type 2 pump. We may be relocating it up on the new higher mountWhat I like was that there is a belt there to run a PS pump already. If I could fit one. A P-pump with remote reservoir and cooler would be nice. My goal is to not have any actual frame past the engine mounts. So space will not be an issue. Front sheet metal and winch mount will be on an engine cage.
I don’t like them either but gotta give credit where credit is due.I was just trying to bash the blue oval. Now you have burst my bubble.
I don't think that would work. I've been doing recall repairs on the L83 trucks for loss of vacuum and subsequent loss of braking assist. Main repair is reprogramming the abs module allowing more braking assist coming from the abs system in low vacuum situations. Some still lack assist after the reprogramming so the vacuum pump ends up getting replaced under a special coverage warranty extension.I've seen some chatter on some forums about folks removing the vac pump and not having an issue with the brakes but it's a lot of work (at least with the engine in the truck) to do for little gain.
That was the other style I was looking at. Not sure if it will run everything.Desertk5’s rig is running his p.s. pump down there but it’s a type 2 pump. We may be relocating it up on the new higher mount
