The White Truck, my ‘03 LB7 Tow Rig

Installed a set of Airlift 7500 lbs bags. Bring on the blue truck.

This bracket pushes in the upper lip of the frame for maximum heavy dutery.

I moved the heat shield down a little more. Clearance to the upper bag bracket is tight.

How do you like the 4600 bilstein?
I want to put them on my daily gmt400 suburban which will only see off road when camping a couple of times a year.
I fear the 5100 will be to stiff

Work truck, doing work truck things.

This thing is just an exceptional piece of gear. I’ve been running it up and down the highway headed to and from Gabe‘s, the anodize shop, the sandblaster, Summit, the airport, and the OP. I don’t usually burn through the 52 gallon tank when driving around in town, but the last few weeks have varied significantly from the norm.

It’s a Duramax, of course!

The pull to and from Vegas was pretty easy. The Banks tow tune has just the right amount of torque in the 70mph range where I like to cruise. No drama. Average was 13mpg, so on a drag that long I only filled up 3 times: Amarillo, Gallup, Kingman.

The suburban is such a windsail, and I got a little more side-to-side movement on the trailer than I wanted, especially getting through the panhandle on the way back. In addition to lower the hitch one more spot and leveling the tongue with the airbags, I'll get a friction swaybar for the next time I drag the suburban. The 99 is 3000 lbs lighter and way more forward biased, so the run to AZ should be fine.

My 2500 Suburban has factory 32 + 10 gallon tanks (single fill tube). Yes, I've bought gas more than once in the same tow day.

Never been able to put more than 37 in mine, also have the 2 tanks never looked at how big.

I almost made it out of AZ unscathed. The upper radiator hose was about 3/8" too long and just barely rubbed on the brake master. The gauge peaked up to 230 and wouldn't hold pressure while I was stuck on a haul up from Phoenix to Flagstaff. I exited at the first chance, and was able to gorilla tape the hose, refill what I lost with the leftover drinking water we had on the trail, and limp to a Flagstaff Oreilly.

Pretty sure the high pressure fuel relief valve failed open. It died immediately after returning to idle after part throttle.

Ordered parts from the plane, and now it’s back at the garage and ready to get torn down.

I run the PPE plug on my LLY, but it looks like the LB7 is different. ATS makes one
