1957 4400, 8.1 NV4500 Hauler

So....... 3 and 1/2 months later I am finally getting started on this. I am gonna pick up where I believe the po left off. Recessed firewall is not how I would have done it but is far enough along that I am going to finish it and then go from there.

I'm disappointed.
Nobody suggested putting one of the Ford 60s I just picked up in this rig, that is already setup with a d/s drop t-case.
Plus some info storage.

The graph illustrates a general rule of steel strength. The bending strength of steel increases by approximately the square of its thickness.

In our defense, after 6 months of no updates, the build might be dead!

I did spend hours cleaning/scraping and undercoating the inner floor boards and inner/outer firewall.
Guess I forgot to post pics/progress. I believe I have the abs delete figured out as well. I probably will not have time to work on it until after Tri State. Not enough sunshine lately for some reason.

There’s 8 more minutes of sunshine everyday on this side of the border

Soooooo are the Ford hubcaps for sale? lol Only thing I came here to ask.

Ummmm........... no.

When I get rid of the maypop tires that were put on for rollers I'll be using steel wheels and those caps on my 86 F350 single wheel 4x4.

Finally some decent weather and some time so I was able to get back out in the garage.
Switched the front hubs over to the dually hubs but after measuring the box van rear it was a no bueno unless I did spring hangers from frame. Already sold the van for decent $ so that was not going to happen. So I just went and bought this. Super wide 14 bolt for the win.

Someone on here recently posted
"Just because something is a good deal that does not mean you have to buy it."
This is apparently a skill I have yet to master. I'm not sure yet if this is going to be used on this project but it was too good of a deal to pass up.

DT466? What transmission?
Yep, 466 with an Allison trans. Truck is a 2007 and was purchased thru a local Sheriffs sale. Looks like it was robbed of various parts then scrap monkeys went thru and cut almost all of the wiring out of it. The Sheriffs Dept sold on a bill of sale and voided the title with the state so one way or the other it was going to have to be "recabbed" Bed is actually in really good shape and the wheel lift appears to have very little use.

Just a crappy egr dt466. Not too big of a loss there. The Allison will be worth something.
In a perfect world I am hoping to find a pre emissions low mile International to put this bed on.
I had a 466E in a 98 or so 4300 series years ago that I really liked.
Any idea on what years are best or to stay away from? Do the 466E's pull stronger then the old mechanical injector 466s?

I really like the mid 90s dt466. It's the mechanical one with the aluminum valve cover and aluminum front cover just like the dt466e but with a mechanical injection pump still. The dt466e is a great engine but you gotta have someone with International software or a decent aftermarket setup to do anything. I have shopped around a bunch and if you can find an ex-fire truck they got the highest horsepower engines. A dt530 or ht530 would be sweet.
