1969 Buick Wildcat Custom build. Sold it.

I cant get over how nice that car is, what a great score. The Timing cover seal is that old rope type, it may have needed a little oil, heat and friction to start doing it's job again.

I am hoping so. The new seal is a standard rubber type. Talked to TA Performance and they said the seal goes in from behind the cover.
Been sitting for over an hour and there are zero drips under it.:saweet:

Neutral safety switch has been ordered.

I will give an atta-boy to the first person who can tell me why there are so many seat belts up front.

I had a 1970 Buick Skylark GS with a big block 455 back in the late 70's to late 80's. I completely rebuilt the engine and transmission in that car. After having done a lot of work on Buick engines in my life, I do not blame you at all for wanting to toss that old 430 cubic inch Buick engine for something easier to deal with. Those Buick engines where a pain in the @SS compared to Chevy engines to get working solidly and reliably.

I think after a little more work, this one is moving on to a new owner. Too original and low miles to tear into.

No correct guesses yet?

I wondered how long until you felt guilty cannabalizing it

My guess as well. That era used to have the shoulder belt assembly tuck up in the roof area with some clips. The lap belt was the default, or you could choose to use the shoulder belt with it. The drawback was it wasn't a retractable belt...so almost nobody used em.

my mom's 69 camaro has em. Not functional, but cool

You guys are correct. I just thought it was funny to see them all laid out on the seat. Carpet cleaned up nice. Will shampoo it after the rest gets wiped down.

the video was good to see it move out on its own....Norm said "that's neat"

Bought a new neutral start switch. Would not fit. The bar that goes into the column is too wide. So I rebuilt the old one. Should have done that from the beginning to save the $20. The new one will go back.

Mechanics in the 70s must have all been skinny dudes. Had to reverse a cheapo HF spring compressor to push the bumper out far enough to get my arm behind to change bulbs.

And the center on the left marker light was out. Grabbed an 1156 bulb to replace it. The outer 2 on each side are tail and brake 1157 bulbs. Pull the center bulb, it is an 1157. The housing is for an 1157 with just 2 wires. Ground and tail. Never seen that done before.

Picked up plates today. $78 to register.

She brought me this plate. I asked if they had higher numbers for the CYC-***. She looked for the CYC-430 plate. Theirs only went to CYC-399. The plate was in Denver. Thought having CYC-430 (sick 430) would have been cool. Oh well, not worth the drive to Denver.
