I was reading around and seeing other people having a similar issue and since it's a bitch to get that heater core out (assuming it's the heater core and not just the hose and or clamps) , they used a fitting and clamps and just joined the upper and lower hose together, to bypass the heater core until they can fix and it replace it. Obviously the heater won't work but... it saves you from coolant all over the cab or elsewherePretty much yes. Unless you have a shut off valve in a hose. The heater core is used as the by pass when thermostat is closed on many sbc applications
Same for me. Mine leaks occasionally in the same spot, so I just snug up the hose clamp and keep on truckin.I’ve had to retighten hose clamps a few times. I just assume I’m guilty of not cranking them down enough when new.
Good idea... I'll check that today and adjust if necessary.Same for me. Mine leaks occasionally in the same spot, so I just snug up the hose clamp and keep on truckin.
I did note that the metal (copper?) pipe coming out of the heater core that the hose slips onto is slightly deformed, as in it's not a perfect circle. I repositioned the hose and clamp in relation to the pipe, shoving it on a little further. Leak went away.
Then the shop who installed this did it and just left it. I haven't touched anything in there. Laaaameyeah it's busted and the threaded stem is still in the service port. probably use a sharp pick to spin it out. the R134A service port caps are available at the parts stores
Ok, I'm going to leave it alone then. Until it needs a rechargeWell the cap is the "primary" seal you see the black oring on the part in your hand? that the seal. The schrader valve, under the blue part in port, is the "secondary" seal. As a certified a/c service tech I can not leave a cap off. That said and you not having certification yep can be left alone until service is needed.
Thanks... it took about 16-18 months from when I bought it to it driving again. Would have been faster but it got hot in my garage during the summer.. hahahaYou did a nice job getting the c10 back on the road!
Honestly when you first got it I didn’t think you would get it back together as fast as you did… I know you had some headaches and asked a ton of questions. Awesome for the guys here to help you out as much as possible.
Just wanted to say great on you!
I really like the truck and wanted to see it finished.
If you do sell it so be it… don’t sell it cheap.
It’s Tits!
