1972 OLBLUE Blazer

This may or may not be my longest, most extensive build
Well here’s my next potential project. Could be my most extensive build, or a quick fixer upper. Really haven’t decided yet due to title issues.

Jake and I set out after this Blazer after we had both shown interest in it, which worked out great for me because he has the trailer!! Thanks Jake. So either way this Kansas field find 72 blazer was gona make its way to Nebraska with one of us. As always upon getting there and checking it out we realize it’s worse than imagined from the pictures. We both walked away, empty trailer heading home, until the phone rings. He accepts out low ball offer and we decide to turn around and grab it. That is my lowball offer, Jake’s was lower :rotfl:

This what we were dealing with when we got there. The blazer has plates on it from 2002 that belonged to the original owner, along with the OLBLUE plate on the front. Unfortunately it’s passed hands a few times since then and no paper work was recorded. After some extensive research and getting title records, my plan was to get a bonded Nebraska title. That is where I’m at but I have also been in contact with a previous owners searching for a title! We may get there. Just being patient!

Straight to the power washer. Basically all I have got done on this is power washing! It’s a good improvement tho! Less dead mice and moldy carpet!
Trashed this place, and filled up 3 trash cans. Sorry not sorry

Here’s where I’m at. Seats out. Was nice to see all the seat brackets are original even tho one seat was mismatched. No rear seat currently. This blazer will need extensive floor work, I plan to build it from the bottom up, skipping the part where you paint over that beautiful patina!

Current status. The bucket is catching gas leaking out of a pin hole in the tank. I’m sure it’s pretty nasty in there

I suppose some of you may care what the drivetrain is, I don’t, it needs an LS and sm465!

Looks to be an old 283 with a sweet impala fan shroud. That’s backed by a 3 speed manual that has been converted to floor shift.

I grabbed a used battery, some new cables, and there some gas in it. The ol 283 fired up instantly. Exhaust is all rotted out and louder than heck. It runs tho, it also moves and stops ok for now. I was able to drive it into the garage

How cool!

Always like to watch what you’re up to.
Amazing how a cleaning can make what looks like trash turn to a cool project.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work. I think I found a guy that rebuilds them. Got offered pretty good money for it already by a few guys

Hauled this to the DMV last week. Got a clear title in my name, that’s a big accomplishment considering it was purchased with no title.

Stopped by the Wahoo swap meet and grabbed a whole new floor. Rear cargo and a full front, new wheel house tubs. That is where this project will be begin.

Just curious, what tcase would be on that 3spd?

Rocker parts showed up.
Boxes, reinforcements, end caps, and the step up plate. Trying to decide where to order bedsides from?

Front clip is off, ready to pull the motor. Successfully removed all the bolts holding the top on, being a double wall it has captured nuts which can be a problem if they decide to spin. IMG_8649.jpeg
