1973 blazer

are u in 4 hi or 4 lo??? yea u need to change gearing if your that low...also, they other trucks had a lot more wheel spin cuz it looks like they hit the gas harder AND sooner than you...don't b scared to give it a lil more pedal...if u have a 465, what gear did u run in, 3rd???

What I saw was the other trucks had better gearing and or more power to get the tires to self clean. You had so little real wheel spin it's no wonder they caked up.

I'm gonna guess you got 3.73's at best, but it really looks like you have 3.08's by the way your truck is performing.

Watch one of your vids, except just listen to the truck. Now watch the other black K5 and really listen to the difference.

X2 gearing makes all the difference. When going through a whole like that you have to have your RPM up high in the power band not at like 2k, more like 3500-4000 on a stock 350. Although with autos its really hard to actually get the engine to spin that high no matter how much gas you give it so the trans shifts up and the engine bogs. Happens to my friends K20 all the time and he even has good gearing. So what you do is put it in 1 or 2 and 4lo and go pedal to ****ing metal :saweet:.

You may say you're lazy but with a tired 350 the best thing you can do is get rid of the slushbox behind it to actually get the power to ground. :waytogo:

I prefer an auto in my Blazer just because the places I go work best with an automatic. It is hard to up-shift with a manual while hill climbing a sand dune.
I say you keep the automatic even though you’re not going to take your blazer to the dunes. Transmission choices are a matter of preference of the user. Use whatever you feel comfortable with.

Edit-
i have a th350 and i am scared to hydro my engine.. lol i guess that dont matter anymore
If I was in a situation where I needed wheel speed to get out of trouble, I would be pressing the accelerator pedal so hard the floor board underneath would be warping, and the motor would be on the verge of valve float.

well i might get the 82 blazer registered and just drive that, it will cost about the same to get either one running, but ill wait for after basic training to start on the 73. i wanna go with a 454,th400,205 combo :D

quick update:D

well i got another th350. gonna pick up tomorrow;
its completely disassembled.. i am gonna get a rebuild kit and a shift kit.
Jamber said he has a th350 book and ima try to do this myself.

i started to fix my rust "issues"; i stared on the tail end and almost done.
hopefully i can get some tubing to fix the rocker area, then on to paint.

got a trans in(350-203) from a 3/4 ton 4x4 truck, didn't get the axles but i did get the trans and transfer case.
it goes in gear, i haven't really driven it.
i got a new front end, from an '80 burban.

ill take some pics when im done bolting it all up.
got a leak from my water pump so that needs to be replaced.

im so happy to see it coming back together...

yeah sheet metal, the new china crap fenders cracked and the inner shell broke in like 4 different places. so that's scrap. lol

i just swapped fenders. the '73 grill isn't fitting so ima see what i can do, i might have a '75 grill that will fit..

Dood, all you have to do to get the '73 grille to fit is replace the hood latch mechanism and the left and right grille brackets from your old stuff and you're golden. I've done it before, easy as cake. Don't worry about the two brackets on the very ends of the '73 grille, you don't really need them. The '73-'74 grille is the best looking one of all IMHO. :)

Gus this is the bracket that you don't need (and the one on the other end of the grille). You'll want to transfer all the other ones over in order to mount your '73 grille.
