1973 C10 "The Purple Truck"

Basic build
I've used both methods, depends on the dent, but I'm no expert in sheetmetal, far from it.

I thought after I said it and if you do use the hammer and wood I think you would need a straight backer to rest it on so you only move the part that needs it.

Finished the bumper install. LMC had the inner brackets. Also picked up "gravel guards" but the leave the center open. Is that normal? I remember on the K5 the filler panel was fill width.

I did have to trim some off the bracket to clear the spacer that fits inside the frame for the rear bed mount.

Was that spacer/sleeve factory or added with the hitch?

Added with the hitch makes sense. I do not remember mine having that spacer. But it was a long time ago. I built a hitch that came off of the side of the frame along with the bottom.

Added with the hitch 100%

I will say the LMC gravel deflectors were nicer than I expected. Pretty heavy gauge for $10ea. I shot some black paint on everything so the open middle section doesn't bug me as much.

I must have a problem with my new fuel pump install. Fuel pressure falls off under hard acceleration. I'm wondering if I ended up with the fuel supply pinched with my hose routing. Might need to pull it out of the frame hole.

Fuel pressure will drop under hard excelleratiln because you are using a bunch of it. Depends on how much it is dropping

It shouldn't drop more than a couple psi lower than the set pressure with the vacuum reference disconnected.

It will drop at idle because of the vacuum reference. But at WOT it should rise back up to the 43 psi or whatever you have it set it. I would say if its lower than 41 at WOT you have a problem. (assuming you are running a 43 psi tune).

What pump did you use?

Do you have a baffle in your tank to keep the sump submerged?

I should have elaborated more. It drops off to as low as 20psi and it looses power and cuts out like it's running out of gas.

I drove home last night with the vacuum reference disconnected from the regulator. Fuel pressure at idle is 43psi and it will drop off as the throttle is opened further. At small throttle openings it's just a few pounds but will drop more and more as the throttle is opened further.

I do have a factory replacement TBI tank with the baffle tray. The first time I really noticed this happening, I thought it was fuel level related. However it does the same thing even with a full tank. That tells me it's either the fuel pump under performing or a restriction in the line.

I don't think this was happening immediately after I installed the in-tank pump. It's bad enough right now I have to do grandpa acceleration and that is not my normal. I would have noticed it right off the bat. So I'm a little afraid it might be the pump failing because it seems to be getting worse.

I don't have any experience with that particular pump, sorry, no help.
