How hard are 1973 Jeep comanches to find? I don't see any around here...haven't seen one on the highway for at least 25 years...

are there particular places where those are more plentiful just like the old Blazers? :dunno:

not currently here either, closest thing I found

this would have to be a 1973 or nothing

I'll ask. Why 73 only?

it's not for me, it's for my neighbor...he is seeing my Blazer finally come together and now he wants to do a Comanche...1973 is apparently a specific looking Comanchee..:dunno:

I'm no expert, but I don't think they made Commanches in 73. The Commanche was based off the newer XJ platform, released in the mid-80s. If he's looking for a 70s Jeep pickup, it's just going to be a J-10 (or J-20, I don't really know if they made a J-30 or not). But yeah, no Commanches in 73 as far as I know. Unless it was some trim package on a J truck.

Yep...wow...put in J-10 and a bunch come up...looks the same to me what he is calling a comanche...

That's everything I was going to say. Comanche is xj plataform, J-10 are like the older v8 wagoneers.

I thought the J series were Commanchee's??--same as a Wagonner chassis?.....could be wrong...my friend once owned a 1970 "Commando" jeep that was like a CJ or Jeepster sized rig, bought it off a local tire shop,it had the Michelin Man decals on it!..sure he's not confusing it with a Commando?...

I dunno, the older J series trucks were gladiators, later on it went to J series and had the older wagoneer look, and in the 80s when the cherokee(XJ) came out the comanches (MJ) looked like that.

http://www.jeep.com/en/history/ was curious so I started looking it up.

Oh and according to that they did make J30s, duallys even :waytogo: Probably something we'll never see, but it's cool. But other than that I can find little to no info, pictures, or anything on a J30. A few pictures, but anyone can throw a set of duals on.

the one he is looking for is a pickup...

Wow. I own a Spirit, and grew up around AMCs and older Jeeps, and am still pretty active with the AMC crowd and fairly knowledgeable about them, and I've never seen a Jeep dually. That's pretty cool.

Ya the only thing I could imagine was limited production runs for companies or an aftermarket who redid the running gear and suspension. Kinda like the Starcraft stuff you see in Suburbans and vans.

My buddy had the 73 j10 pickup. The drivetrain had all been swapped to Chevy parts. Lol. Had a 4 Inch lift and 33s on it. Fun lil truck.I seem to remember it had commando on the front fender I think.

The J-series trucks had many different names and options the Honcho comes to mind, also with a stepside bed. I`ve never seen a Commanche that wasn`t XJ based. I work with a guy that used to work for AMC, and is a collector, I can ask him.

I have a 71 gladiator its a j-4000 technically its a J-4800 aka 1 ton but single wheel.

I am betting he is thinking "gladiator" 73 was the last year they had that name after that they just went to j10, j20.
