My 1974 blazer has a manual crank window in the back. The window come off the track while rolling it up. I took the access panel off and put the roller back on the track but now it is crooked. Anyone know how to adjust it?

My first guess would be that one of the arms on your window regulator is bent. There’s a reason why it popped out of the track - obviously not normal. You need to investigate why. Maybe one of the rollers that rides in the window track is broken or missing.
Pics would be nice, but you’re a non-member which makes it difficult to post. Also, how much is it crooked?

Rollers, tracks are probably worn and or rusted on the window sash as well as the side tracks the window rides in
Need to take a good look in there and see what’s going on.

remove the tailgate cover and you most likely will find parts are rusted. Mine was so rusted that it also caused the glass to go crooked.

I have the cover off. It appears the regulator arm on the right is misaligned? In the schematic it shows both arms of the regulator are aligned but mine seems to be several teeth off which makes sense that it goes up crooked now. My question is how could this happen and is there a way to adjust the regulator or do I just need to buy a new one?
Thanks

Here is another picture of the regulator removed from the truck. See how the arms seem like they are not properly aligned?

The arms don’t look bent. The only reason I can see the gears being off is the teeth are stripped on that side or the drive gear. From my memory of taking mine apart I don’t remember being able to take the regulator apart further to be able to line the gears up again. At least not without drilling out a bunch of rivets.

Be very aware of the large clock spring on the other side. I almost lost a finger when the worn out one on my first k5 cut loose as I was working on it.

Besides if you do find worn parts nobody sells anything separately within the regulator assembly. So it’s probably time to source a good used one or a reproduction through LMC or somewhere else.

On my K5 it was this part I circled in red that that cam on the regulator fits into that was rusted.

That regulator looks freakishly nice, so it's likely not the original. But is it OE or aftermarket? If the gears slipped once, what keeps it from happening again? I would probably figure out a way to take it apart and if all the teeth look good, reassemble (with bolts?) and give it another shot. It's possible there is something that can be done to adjust the clearance while it's apart.

Should be able to wind it to inspect all the teeth, w/o taking it apart.
I am wondering if winding to one extreme or the other out of tail gate will allow you to time ea side

I just ordered a new regulator and the window glass cam channels. They were both rusted. I’ll post pictures after I receive the parts and install everything.
Thanks for the help guys.

I was going to do that very thing on my old regulator. The clock spring holds tension on everything and once the tooth slipped the sob spun one whole side in and if my finger had been in the wrong place it would have been on the floor.

I’m not exaggerating either that thing popped and the one side arm spun in a split second. Rather than tempt fate further i promptly chucked it in my garbage can to rid myself of the danger. I had a fresh used one to install but I was trying to figure out what went wrong on the old one first.

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't trying to get anybody killed

It’s all good. I didn’t know any better when I was messing with mine over 15 years ago. Just sharing so nobody else potentially looses a digit.

I have fixed these before and yes they are dangerous and tricky.
I had already had my fair share of cut fingers from other similar products so I knew how to tackle it.
In my case the rivets were worn and allowed the teeth to get out of the plane and misalign.
Back then I was younger, single, bored out of my mind and still trying to build my life.
These days I just chuck it and get a replacement

LMC parts arrived today. Installed new regulator and works perfectly now. Window is straight. Thanks all for the advice.

Good job! :waytogo:
Hope you had some kind of support under the window while it was sticking out like that.

And I think it’s against the bylaws of CK5 to post pics of just the rear of what appears to be a nice looking full vert. We need to see the whole truck. :deal:
