i dont know man, i got my k5 for 1200 but the rust was no where near as bad as that with a new crate and rebuilt tranny. Though that is a 3/4 ton. what are you gonna use it for?

If it were a truck locally.. I'd offer $500 and if he declined I would move on..

Your area may be different... but around here that's a running parts truck :eek1:

Up here in the rust belt that's a candidate for a restoration unfortunately.

AJMBLAZER, Your from the midwest, what you think man, Should I waste the time or for the money you think I could find something better?

I only got about $2500 including repairs and other bulls**t

Beater and potential parts rig for the K5 or something to actually depend on and put money into for a while?

Rust and 25+ years of craptastic fixes make me avoid most older trucks up here. I imported my truck from elsewhere, just like you. Meanwhile I can't afford 10mpg so I've gone other routes in my DD 4x4.

If it's a parts vehicle I'd do like mentioned above and flash him $500 and if anything just sit it in the backyard as a potential axle swap candidate and parts rig. Bet that thing has 4.10's in it.
Driver? Personally I'd pass. Too much rust, too bad on gas, and too much trouble for me.

Now when we move south hopefully this coming year...I'll have to work hard to stop from filling my buddy's barn with parts vehicles.

well, mostly Daily drive, and haulin stuff. Oh and I am like always doing offroad stuff, My old ford pickup was never clean, it was always full of mud, and i didnt even have an agressive tire.:eek1: lol

Honestly, go look for a 4x4 4cyl pickup. Find someone's Ford, Nissan, Toyota, hell, even the old Mazdas or Isuzus. Good gas mileage, decently cheap if you find the right seller, has a bed, and all should get around 20mpg.

IMO, thats too much coin to spend for that condition. You could find something better or cheaper.

BTW, the knob on the t-case shifter indicates an NP203 case, not 205.

if you want a fullsize get some pos car thats good on gas, and grab a fullsize to toy with. I drive a civic and my truck around when im in the mood. You can find better snow belt trucks for 1000, i think that would be a good donor truck but otherwise.. i dont even want to know what it looks like under that carpet. I got my truck from jersey near the coast and its nowhere near as bad as that for 1200. id say go for 500 or move on like the above poster said

well here is my current truck. Its really aint something i wanna beat on, I will do mild stuff but thats it. and i cant even pickup another truck cause I dont got the room. What I currently drive so the truck dont have to go out in the salt is a 95 ford econoline van, (its my grandpa's work truck) but I am not garentied that i get to drive it all the time. most the time yes, but i want something else.

I know I get pretty darn close to 20MPG on my Ranger with the 2.9L V6 and A4LD(I really wish it was a 5 speed though).. if I keep off the skinny pedal. I know a few folks with the 4 bangers in their Rangers, and other than being gutless they seem do be easy on gas(25MPG or better). I'd say that the Ranger's a good pickup, but the ride in the 4x4 models is craptastic.. rear end is wayyyy too light and oversprung with 2" blocks :eek1:

hmmm dude tough choice there. that truck is way to nice to beat on. If i were you id get a small truck or car with good gas mileage for a DD. If you want a beater, well having two full size trucks is gonna kill you on gas. I knock smaller trucks because i like the fullsize but if you build it right you could have a decent DD/beater rig and the fullsize you have can stay a showtruck/toy

tell-tell sign of dana 60f....only 3 u-bolts...2 on drivers side(gm)...on passenger side, u-bolt outboard of leaf, but inside the leaf(at least the 1 just got)where longer u-bolt usually goes around the diff., it has no u-bolt, it has bolts from top thru the plate and the diff has threaded holes, the bolts go in....i dont know if older d60f's are like this mines a 86,iirc....some1/any1, jump in are all d60f's like this?

Eh, the ride can be fixed easily enough.

What he said though.:D

Dont get me wrong its not just street driven, I will take it off road and screw around with it, Carfully though. Hell I was origanly gonna restore it, but then I decided to start moddin it to better suit my needs.

For trucks I had a 91 f150 i was getting 17MPG. Ya and it was 4x4 got it for $900. but now there going for like $2500-$3500

Go find a Toyota or Nissan 4x4, slap some 31's on it, get 20mpg, and go. It'll wheel harder than you want to wheel the K5 and still be a good DD.
