Hey everyone, I am needing to replace the passenger side floor, rust is a bitch, and I know that LMC makes replacement floor pans and what not. I was wondering if anyone has used these and if they are good, or if there is another approach I should take, i.e. sheet metal floor. I know I will have to replace the rocker panel as well. Any ideas are welcomed.

pics of what you're fixin will help. I used an lmc pan in the floor of my 76. they work fine if it's not too bad. Just have to cut out the old rust, then cut the new one to fit and weld in.

My experience with LMC pans was they are a good start, but don't expect them to fit exactly without some more work. I had to shrink some areas, and stretch others, but in the end they went in pretty well.

Ok good to know about needing to work on them to get them to fit. Sorry I've been out of town and then last night the damn internet went out so I had to wait till I got back in the office to reply. I'll snap some pics and post of what the floor looks like.

lets see if this works...linking to pictures in my album because my company's firewall or something won't allow me to post pics in replies??

Ok, went and got some pictures of the floor, both driver and passenger. The PO cut out most of the cancer and replaced it with sheet metal on the passenger side and a little on the driver's side. The rocker panel will have to be replaced on passenger side. Should I even mess with the driver side or just leave it be for now?

at the top of the reply page, there's a little button with a mountain on it, hit that, then just copy the addy in the prompt...

taiwan floor panels are pretty "meh" especially around the edges as far as fit goes...

Well today is my birthday and I got new rocker panels from LMC for both sides. Whenever I get time to put them in I'll post some pics.

Well, to me it looks like you have twice the fun most of us get to have. Not only do you have rust to repair, but you have a crapola repair job in place that should come out.

73,4,5 have rocker boxes that are critical to supporting the body, and there are no re-pops that I know of. Not that it's a terribly difficult piece to re-make, but you will be re-making it.

What can I say, I love challenging myself when I have no idea what I'm doing and not enough time to do it, haha. BTW what is up with the rocker boxes under this thing? Why only have them in 3 years and then do away with them, working on this is just a little different than the '91 I used to have.

I have a feeling that's what it is doubletrouble. And the odd thing is, and I'll have to take another closer look, but I don't recall any holes or rust on the rocker boxes, just on the floor in the cab. But it could be the dirt caked on the bottom covering them up, I'll def look into it now.

Made some progress today, my reciprocating saw's battery ran out so i didn't get the floor up but I cut into the rocker box and found a big pile of sh!t in there. I could be wrong but I don't think dirt/leaves/straw was insulation from the factory.

i'm afraid to pull the carpet out of my '90. it scares me just looking up at the rotted through and cracked cab mounts, rockers, and such in mine. i just hope it holds together long enough till i can do something about it. anything that survives 21 winters living on the street in NYC deserves a second life :D. i'll be watching your thread for sure.
