1976-78 Eldorado Calipers

my cadi ebrake is definitely not what i thought it would be.it does hold, just not well more than a couple degrees incline.as far as on road braking,it is much better than my drum brakes on the stock 12 blt.if i had to do it again,i would have stuck with the stock 3/4 ton calipers and went with the had ebrake setup and driveshaft.

Next question is...where have you all found the best prices on GM 3/4 ton rotors and calipers? Seems as though there is quite a range of pricing!!!

Thanks.

Sean

well, i can give you a final price tomorrow..... but it was $53 for both rotors and calipers off the axle im pulling apart. Ill be buying the backing plates and parking brake assemblies tomorrow. along with brake lines. ill also have to buy a set of parking brake cables from the dealership or parts store to work with the brake setup.

oh and the rotors i got are about useless. im just using them to mock up the setup, ill have to buy new rotors and pads for the install.

buy them once and never again!

i got mine at autozone(i buy the good quality ones) for the simple fact that they have a lifetime warranty! even when the pads wear out they cover it, i have several spares, i carry them in and get new pads, rotors, or calipers, what ever i need....

ask oreilys & advance auto if theirs are lifetime,..they will tell you yes,..ask if that covers the pads wearing out or grooves in rotors,..they will tell you nope! they are lifetime warranty if something breaks, not ''normal'' wear and tear!

autozones lifetime warranty covers the brake pads when they wear out. i have 3 trucks w/8 lug 3/4ton front ends and 1 truck that has a set of the 3/4 ton rotor & caliper & pads on the rear...i bought 1 set from the zone & when any of them wear out, i carry my spare cores in and get new brakes.....FREE!

every vehicle i own has rotors, calipers, & pads from the zone, so i never have to buy them again & most of my vehicles i've bought spares from the salvage yard cheap, so i can swap them out & have all my parts together when i tear it down, instead of having to pull the parts off then go get the new 1's...after new brakes are on i put the old 1's in the new boxes and write what they are off of on the box & leave the receipt in the box & put them on a shelf in my shop to swap out next time i need brakes.

ooooooo tay, i got all my stuff from the junkyard, ill be putting together a new thread with all the info tonight. including pics of drawings showing how all the stuff works and might possibly fit together.

total cost for the hubs, axle shafts (which arent necessary), calipers, rotors, brake lines, backing plates, parking brake assemblies. all around $120

Im taking a bit of a shot in the dark on the D70 axle, as i havent taken it apart yet, but i should have a pretty interesting thread up later tonight.... for anyone who's interested ;)
