Moving along on my ‘76 repaint and need some help on the top and cab roof. Someone repainted these along the way and they must’ve added sand to the paint to try to match factory. It’s awful.

Should I spray the cab roof and top with raptor liner and then spray white over it? What have others done?

Hey Craig, I re-sprayed my cab roof with a semi gloss white. From the factory it should be smooth and the fiberglass top does have a little bit of texture to it but not much. Sucks someone added sand to yours. Good luck on your project and keep us informed on your progress.

Oh man I was hoping to hear differently! I applied sealer to the roof and didn’t completely remove the texture. It looks like I’ll have to texture the cab roof too.

Screw it. I’m going to get the sealer as flat as possible and spray the single stage urethane white on it. I’ll texture just the rear top.

Painted the inside of the top today. I’m concerned paint isn’t going to go on this raptor liner. I’m going to sand it lightly with 400 and see what happens. Spraying the body gold next week and the white following. Wish me luck.

Not sure if you bought it or not but Upol sells a "Tintable" version of Raptor liner which you mix the paint in with so you dont have to paint over it

I bought the tintable but it wasn’t looking exactly the same once tinted. So I figured I’d change course and paint over it.

Looks good to me. Gold and white is kinda rare but has always been one of my favorite two tone combos.

This didn’t go so well today. This Yuba Gold is a real bitch. It doesn’t hide anything. I have to respray some parts.
Hide? Paint only magnifies the flaws. You've done a great job painting everything disassembled. I want to get closer to that next time. There's just nothing in the world like a fresh painted Blazer.

Maybe “hide” was a bad word. “Cover” would be a better choice. It doesn’t cover well. The white was simple but the gold took a lot of work to lay down.

Top looks good. got to get to mine...sometime

Your balls must clank when you walk, doing a complete paint job in a outdoor tent.

Looks amazing, I love that color.

I almost went back with the original Moss Gold and white on mine but didn’t like the spray out so going with Rescue Green.
