1977 Chevy C10 shortbed resurection/restomod/ratrod

E-Z Off oven cleaner can be used to strip off only the top layer of paint if carefully applied and removed..body shops use it often to remove painted on lettering off commercial vehicles..

Drug home another parts truck today. I'm thinking this seat will look nice recovered and installed in the shortbed.

I have been looking for a c10 similar to this. I want to make a streetable drag truck out of it. Lower it just a tad, little larger rear meats, somewhat built big block...and seeing this truck is similar to what I'm looking for to start with. Good looking truck :waytogo:

Of course this would happen after I start thinking about selling her... drove fine 50 miles into work, halfway home started stalling anytime I went up a hill. Looks like the rubber hose coming off the right tank is swelling shut in the heat starving the fuel pump.

My '81 had issues with that when I moved to Utah. Drove fine for the first 4 hrs then started stalling and stuff .I replaced all the rubber hoses from tank to frame and frane to pump and limped it the rest of the way. Turns out there was crud plugging up the little fuel filter in the front of the quadrajet.

I installed a clear filter right in front of the fuel pump at the same time as the rebuilt carb and new pump. That filter is empty when the truck dies pointing uphill but full when running on flat ground.

Man that’s a neat truck. Like everything about it. Previous owner would be happy to see what we’re seeing. Except that seat....Do not put that other seat in it. Some fresh green upholstery on the original bench will look as good as the wheels:waytogo:

I found a very nice set of caps for this truck. Ice also been pulling the correct trim from the longbed GMC. I hope I can just cut down the bed trim to fit the shortbed and straighten the driver side fender trim.

I dig this build. If you want to do anything with the exterior, you may want to look into CLR diluted 50/50 and a green scotchbrite pad. I've seen it do some amazing thing on the traditional hot rod and kustom car forums I'm in. It' does a pretty good job restoring old paint
