1978 K20 farm truck "Boring maintenance phase"

1978 K20- Rusty beater farm truck
Here are your dimensions, courtesy of LMC. Should be pretty obvious if you have the big'un, it's several inches longer.

Bwahaha. My work here is done. ;)

I actually used LMC for measurements. Which suck to do while still in the burb by the way. It may only be a 28 thankfully!

Here's how far it hangs down, doesn't seem to have the depth required for the 40. I'll get good measurements when I get it yanked out. I have seen A few 1/2 tons with them, but I'm not much a burb expert either.

The guy I bought this off of says he has a turbo'd 6.2 with the "big turbo" he wants me to buy. Maybe for the K10 with the 833.....or not I've got way too many projects as is.

28-gallon tank should have a gap above the skid plate. Methinks you have the Goldilocks tank (not too big, not too small ;)).

I was gonna ask about rear springs, but you're almost as close to your overleaf as I am.

So you're thinking it's the 31 gallon?

And you don't need to get a 6.2 to benefit from a turbine. You can turbocharge what you already have...

I can only imagine how much of a fit the TBI computer would throw if I started tossing boost at it. It couldn't light the CEL fast enough :haha:

One way to find out. Easy enough to burn a chip

Haha you first! I'm going to be a stubborn old man here and stick with bone stock. I don't want a ton of power I just want it to perform like the factory intended really. I never have been one to modify engines. Besides knowing me I'll get bored and tear it apart in less than a year. The 400 and SM465 have less than 3,000 miles on them since being installed :o

Mine has already been messed with

440/425 lift 221/212 duration, aluminum intake, closed chambered heads. Then added the TBI.

That takes it way outside the factory parameters for the ECM to self tune. Works fine with the chip. Think I need more fuel pressure

Those are the worst. Not only do they take all of your time they take your money also.

The non car guys say, man I hate it when my car breaks down, it takes all my time and money. I'll have nothing left over to finish my bathroom remodel.....

Finally picked up my new to me camper from my friends place this evening. I'm sure this camper will end up in the back of the K20 at least once in it's life. For now it's in the F250 where it'll stay for quite awhile. The old 7.3 actually did very well and would maintain 65mph into a head wind and doesn't squat near as much as I figured.

Hopefully I'll find some time to get a fridge mounted in it before our local clubs next trail run the 4th of July. If not it'll go as is and I'll just stick with a cooler or two.
