1978 K20 farm truck "Boring maintenance phase"

1978 K20- Rusty beater farm truck
:dunno:

You knew what he was gonna say... Not sure why you were anxious?

Do they not sell black paint in Iowa?

Been quite on here for awhile but I have been slowing plodding along with this.

The 400 is out. Awaiting an unknown fate.

350 in, got it set in place Thursday evening after work. This picture was after getting the wiring harness for the engine in place and routed into the cab. Ignore the mess of wires along the firewall. The previous owners didn't do it any favors, I'm in the process of cleaning it all up.

The heart of the trucks power distribution. Going with a slave solenoid to control the starter and a 150 amp mega fuse for power to everything else. Going to have to modify the power wire to the starter since I built it around the headers which now won't work. (More on that below)

The headers on this truck have always annoyed me. They were just cheap summit long tubes that always seem to be right in the way of everything. And the oil filter is apparently no exception. The old manifolds were both cracked so new manifolds have been ordered as well as a stock replacement Y pipe. Because what's another $300 at this point :doah:

And lastly I just committed to buying this just a few minutes ago. They bought it for the mint condition box and the 454/TH400. So it'll be a roller with no box. 1979 camper special GMC. Has a tach dash and the cab has very minimal rust. (Forgive the blurry pictures I didn't take them)

Lets see if I got this straight. You're buying a 2WD rolling C&C with no drivetrain? Plans?

79 is the first year. you parting out that pretty truck?

Yep 79 first year of the fuel door. I'm sad they're taking the box as I really could use a good box.

When I get it home I'll clean some stuff out of it as best I can then load it with mouse deterrent and shove it in the shed for a later date. I've been on the lookout for a crew cab for awhile now. Eventually I'd like to convert to 4x4 with an electronically controlled turbo diesel that'll make people question my sanity.
