Thanks. It's been idle for way to long.
I keep saying that it's going to get some love. And it keeps dragging out.
It's really starting to get to me.

On another note reading back a few posts.
The whole x vs h pipe thing.

I just watched engine masters on motor trend tv.
Which by the way is about the best 5 bucks I spend every month.
(I have had it for 2 months and have not even got close to viewing all the content)

Anyway David frieburger did a real world shoot out with h,x, & straight pipes, it looks like the H and X pipe are worth a few more ponys over the straight pipes and the x and h only were 1 -2 hp and torque different from each other. That said, I'll be ordering a x pipe for this.
Look for engine masters episode 22, it's not out on you tube yet. Pretty good way to waste 20 minutes.

Another note. On the engine masters show.

I'll ping this thread instead of just an edit.

They make a point to show that a h pipe is better down low and the x pipe is better up top.
Mid range they were close to the same.

One takeaway is that they figure that in the upper range of the engine, the exhaust gas is basically flowing so fast it bypasses the the h pipe entrance.

I suppose that's opinion, but one cannot argue the hard numbers.

I did the X because it is on my C10, and I wanted to try it. Now thanks to your findings, I need to step up the cam!!!

Then I tried 3" mandrel bent duals to see what it sounded like. I had a guy tell me that he like how my big block sounded...
He was surprised when I told him the truth!
 
I was pretty set on hooker aerochambers, but I see they don't come in stainless.
So for some reason I feel like need stainless steel mufflers in my life on this truck.

So, I think I am going just buy the most violent stainless muffs I can find and see how much of a man I really am.

I have flowmaster 40's..
It has interior resonance even though the bed is lined top and bottom, mufflers are behind the cab , of course.
On the way back from Moab, with no A/C, I decided that it's too loud for road trips...

Stainless would be cool!!!!

Oh yeah, now I remember... You telling that old man story.. some where....

I told you, your to old.

I figure if it's to loud I can tone it down.
I am more likely to buy different mufflers if I can't stand it.
But I go too quiet first I probably would never get around to putting louder mufflers on it.

Case in point. The big block has some flowmasters on it. There are times I want more. But I never do it.

Most of those times are when the neighbors piss me off. So I decide to "warm up" the truck at 4:30am I love the big cam throatiness of that truck when its below freezing. I really should video it.....blub, blub, blub
 
Well turns out their isn't alot of options for 3" fully welded stainless steel muffs under $100.
And it's time to quit overthinking this crap and start doing.
With my cam I doubt I'll be disappointed with anything I put on there.
So I went with some kooks.
If think any chambered muffler wouldn't be what I am looking for so a bullet design is what I think I need.

Also I have been putting this off so long because of the total cost I'll have in exhaust to do it the way I want.

But this will be a good start.

I also am on the fence of buying a x pipe. 100 bucks for one seems unreasonable. I think I will just fab my own.
Unless I can get one under 50 bucks. But I couldn't find one in 3" stainless for that. I will look around the net alittle more.Screenshot_20170602-154602.png :D
 
Damn I was going to suggest going with the Pypes Violators. They sounded so sweet and had a great bark to them. Talk about loud. But race bullets? I think those might beat the Pypes.
 
I was definitely looking at some of those early based on your earlier recommendations.

I have no real reason on why I chose what I did over the pypes, or any other mufflers.
I decided it wasn't going to be a chambered muffler, read a few reviews here and there on summit watched one you tube video with some kooks on a vette and said screw it, then just pulled the trigger.

I can honestly say that while someone out there has some kooks bullets on a square, I surely haven't met them...
Can't say that about a chambered muffler or a flowmaster....
 
So I've been tripping over this summit box since Monday. Been so busy with other things I haven't even had time to open it up.

So i thought I better at Least make sure I got what I ordered and do a quick review.
Apon opening I have to say that these "mufflers" for super nice. I am impressed.
I am impressed with the initial build quality, which I could never say when I was buying a Flowmaster.

Yes, I looked at the widow makers.
They were an extra 35 bucks apiece.
Plus they are not a true straight thru design?

Honestly, I'll go on record to say I'll probably end up changing them. But I just want to have some fun with some wake the dead exhaust for awhile.
