1979 K-10 Stepside Shortbox - Beagle's Build -

So I was just reading through to see if I missed anything. And I need to add this. Is the 1486 sitting in the background an autobot or a decepticon?

I think it should be an autobot since its a real IH. I think they became deceptions once Case bought them out and became Case IH.

So we are movin' right along make good progress and life happened. Stupid life getting in the way! My wife called one morning. This will ruin a day quickly.:doah:

Well I just couldn't leave it be. So before long it started to look like this.

Then this pos started breaking down. God damn what a pile. I will never step out side my GM box again. I spent last summer fixing that pos every time I turned around. I thought I would open my mind a bit and buy something else. But I now know that was a waste of time, money and energy. Anyway I got around to fixing the xterra problem one last time.

So last yr. some progress was slowed some, and the 60 I picked up was a DRW. So I was trying to figure which way I wanted to go.

I thought these would be good. 32 dollars a wheel?! Why not!

Picked up my FAST EZ EFI.

Picked up some DART aluminum heads. Ported the bowls out.
Put them on a flow bench. 200cc heads now flow 243 at .550 lift.
That should work.

Onward to 500 hp....

Sorry no photos of this. Once again these things just aren't things I normally get my phone out for. I typically don't do build threads. And only tend to take photos of the bigger steps of my projects. And actual work, not just buying stuff.

I remember when the 1486 was a new model! I never got in one though.

I can't believe you aren't leaving the engine orange! I gives contrast against the red!
(Yup, your truck, but I have to hassle you! ) Keep it going!

Meh, the 1486 had an ok cab, the doors kind of suck to get in them. The newer 7100 series magnums really are much nicer. The 50 series are pretty much the same as the 86's. The 1486 wins for me because for my money that front end and over all design is as good as it gets for a tractor. I LOVE my fathers 1466. Even the most devout John Deere fan can't talk sh*t about a 466 IH. That my friend is the honey hole right there.

Oddly enough my father just sent that 86 down the road two months ago. I never thought I would see that happen!

Lastly, I bought on of these. Going to keep it flat black. And I am not sure why I want to do so.

So that gets up to date.

A few things for me to remember.

Blazer gas tank going in (Need pump)
Extended stainless braided brake lines.
ORD weld on steering box plate and brace.

Things I need to do.
Finish steering.
- 2wd box.
Finish fuel tank install.
- mount tank.
- new braided lines. Tech AFX Blackwrap
Front and rear bumpers.
-Built by me.
Paint hood.
- dead rat flat black.
Sandblast/paint wheels.
- same paint as above.

New lockouts.
Locker out back.
Some form of a locker up front.
Re-gear rear to match the front. 4.56
Finish installing gauges.
New exhaust/muffers 3 inch
Buy tires.

Finish hydroboost
Brake Master Cylinder
Headers
Header bolts
Electric fans

Anyway on with the LAST pic!

And yes those are old "floater" tires that the co-op used to run on their 1 ton sprayer trucks.

I think I would ditch the H1 wheels for a daily driver/cruiser rig.

Oh, and since the 4010, there hasn't been a time when IH was better than John Deere.

Your reasoning?

And if you grew up around Oliver's you would be telling the super 88 is still the best tractor ever made. you know a 466 isn't a tractor right?
Trucks, tractors, atvs, or whatever. I won't debate. To much of a headache. To old for that sh*t. Everyone can like what they want:D
