Are you talking about a 466 IH engine? I do not know all of the IH tractor numbers.

Cutlass time!
So somebody wanted to see a cutty or two.
So this was my first one. Still in high school. Bought it with a blown up and mostly torn apart V6 bought. From a buddy that bought it as his first car and blew it up. He wanted to put in a V8, but bought a Firebird instead.
I didn't do anything with it for about two years, then I put a mostly stock sbc400 in it.
Wasn't really fast, rode like crap with the V6 front springs and the trunk so so rusted out you couldn't put anything back there. But it was kind of a sleeper. Well as good as 3.07 gears can be, I guess.
I ended up selling it because I just didn't think the rust was worth the hassle.
Looked great on the outside. Drove the hell out of it. At that time the monte was stock and I wanted to keep miles off of her.
This was bringing it home.

Then I bought an 87 cutty for $550 with a broken timing gear to flip.
fixed up some low dollar items and sold it for 500$ profit. woo-dog!
Then I picked up a super clean low mile 78 cutlass from a sale. It was raining and cold that day and hardly anyone was there. Bought it for $1200. This one was to nice to mess with so I listed and sold it for $4500
that single handedly was the best flip I ever had. That gets a double woo-dog. Woo-Dog! Woo-Dog!

So this leads me to my current cutty, and part of the stepside distaction from 07-09. Along with the quads. So a trusted car guy buddy calls me up and tells me he has a family member with a cutlass for sale with a hurt engine.
I said "nah not right now- I have enough on my plate. But how much does he want for it?"
He says "500 - and it's rustfree"
I said "what?! - ain't no way it's rust free - what yr is it?"
He says "beags- I took a look at it - it's solid"
I said "when can we go pick it up?"
So now I have an 87" and no plan. What to do with it? So in the back of my mind I always wanted a cutty with real olds power in her. So the search for a rocket was on. A 350 would do just fine. A 455 rocket would be fun but this would be a driver. About three months later and one ebay click I was on a road trip for a rocket.
The day I got in it the shop and washed it off and started working on it.
I said "nah not right now- I have enough on my plate. But how much does he want for it?"

So with a 68' 350 rocket with a good casting number (certain olds blocks have a higher nickel content, a bit better for hot rodding) I set out to build a nice little runner. 325hp or so, some rims, nice pipes. paint it up later.
So I ending up building just that.
Nice 325hp or so. Solid guess. I think I started with 310hp engine.
buick t-type wheels. powdercoated black.
big and little tires.
nice ground pounder exhaust.
few gauges to keep an eye on things.
and 125HP nitrous shot.
I actually did a pretty good job of documenting this build on my phone at the time... but I have no clue what happened to that phone. But I do have pic before the install.

My buddy had a 78 Omega that he but a 425 in...lime green hub caps total sleeper! Killed 5.0`s back in 1989 or so.
Some drunken Indian buddy of his totalled it of for him.

Mmmm....X-body...I always wanted a Buick skylark hatchback. Those cars can be deadly fast on the cheap.
The cutty has problems like anything that's not new or completely rebuilt. The stupid half vinyl top needs to go bad, I tried to dye it black and was unsuccessful at best. Needs paint. Needs some better suspension. Drives like a grandma car. And the interior dash lights don't work. Which I will fix with a full set of auto meters some day.

Those are all problems that go away when you hit the skinny pedal imo

Yep, The 125 shot might have been to much. It seemed to be fine as long as I was WOT. But I hit it at about 3/4 throttle (on the way to WOT) and I lifted the heads. It's really ok, the heads where junk late 70's castings (didn't come with the engine) plus the olds guys really push high end head gaskets. When I put the engine together the bottle wasn't part of the plan. So I cheaped out and got a basic middle of the road set.
Then I picked up a ford for cheap and was flipping the 460 in it and a guy wanted to trade his kit. So a deal was done.
When I get back to it someday, I hope the block is ok, but it will get some nice new heads and good rebuild. Some 17's, lowered, and a nice paint job.
I think the thread got derailed! But it's all cool s**t to me!

Well, normally I wouldn't post this update, but I have to do some work travel and have to attend to some other things so I won't have many updates for next month or two or three. Plus this might be single handily be the most important post of this entire build thread. But these little guys showed up from Classic Parts to go under the front marker lights.

76 impala 400. Saved from going into a demo car.
Bored .30 over.
Scat internally balanced 5.7 rod crank.
Scat 5.7 rods.
DSS forged pistons.
Dart 200cc SHP heads. (ported and polished)
Crower roller cam and full roller valve train. 1.6 rockers. Cam number 00469
MSD ready to run distributor.
Performer RPM air gap intake.
APR studs and bolts through out.
Fast EZ EFI.
Standard bells and whistles for the rest.
Waiting for dyno results as we speak....
Anyone want to guess what she will make?
I am hoping for 500hp and 500tq. But I don't know if I am there.
Really, if she cranks out 500tq I think I will be happy.
I am in thinking 400hp plus and 500tq. I think my cam and intake will limit the top end big number...
