1979 Suburban with blazer removable top

Once I find a donor that isnt rusted out and cheap, I'll start the measuring. I was just wondering how long it took so I could plan my projects for next year. My wifes Burb is getting a Ranger OD to go with the 465 I put in last year, so my plate is filling up.

I am curious what you were planning for the spare tire hole from the Burb. I use mine for the air tank right now, so I'll most likely leave it open for the tank to go back in.

Since the floor is short with the blazer added on I had to shorten the spare tire tub. I just plan on bending up a sheet metal lid and adding a lock so I can keep spare parts or tools safe.

So I decied to paint it hot rod red flatz from tcpglobal.com. I ordered the primer for it today, just some epoxy rust red. That way when I do the one stage paint it wont take as much to cover the whole vehicle. Any thoughts on what color you would paint it?

I have current pictures back at home but im out of the country right now so when i get back in may I will post some new pics. Im gonna take plenty of time off when i get back to put newsiding on my house and work on the Blazurban

I decided to change what color I was going to paint it. I went with the one state Candy apple red urethane from tpcglobal. Ordered all that up today and when I get from the back the desert in may pictures will follow with the new body work adn paint progress.

Anyone in Northern California got a good deal for me on getting the inside of the truck bedlined?

Sub-Blazer... my opinion of the ultimate vehicle.

Thanks for tackling this project and keeping us up to date.

This thing is AWESOME!!! I can only dream of owning such a rig.

Thanks alot, I got alot of work to do but as soon as I get back to work on it in mid may I will be posting pictures.

The question is when I airbrush the fender emblems on should I use
Blaz-Urban or Sub-Blazer? I kinda like BlazUrban better.

Alright ive been busy as all hell. Found out im moving to North Dakota in Sept so Im getting my house all fixed up for nothing now just so I can rent it out and someone else can enjoy it. Well anyways my motor was ****ty so I had it bored over and decked and had a set of heads rebuilt. Got that all slapped backtogether and put in the burban. Just havent started it yet. Had to rebuild the holley first. There were a could of issues to deal with like the huge fuel leak that basically kept my engine clean and like a jar of napalm ready to start fire. Started on the body work and getting it ready to paint. It started to sprinkled a little bit and didnt want to bare metal in the interior to get wet so I made $10 soft top. I might just run it all year :) Im gonna get to work cutting the hard top into a smaller lowe profile version of its self. I will set up a new thread for that adventure. Who knows where that will go. Well I am back in the states now and have about a month off so I will be updating often.

Oh yah anyone from north dakota or know about the whelling?

Where in N.Dakota are you moving to? The winters are gonna throw you down and fock you if you haven't ever been in -30* temps before. Most of the state is flat or rolling plains if I remember right, so rocks and mountains are out, but muddy fields are plentiful.

great work man. Looking forward to the finished product

Pam cooking spray? Do tell........

Works great on motorcycles too. spray the front chrome & what not, cleans up easy.

Of course, that's for folks that still actually ride their bikes!!:haha::haha:

The pam keeps the carb gaskets from sticking to the metering blocks and bowls. I only use holley gaskets and just give the blue gaskets a light coating of pam and then wipe them off lightly. That way if you gotta make changes you can re-use the gaskets. This carb had never been rebuild and had to pry off the metering blocks with a chisel it was so stuck. Even after soaking if in cleaner for a day.
