i am picking up a 81 suburban for my multi purpose vehicle, it will be my tow rig, mild wheeler, and camping rig. i know i have to change out the exhaust but there are extra headers that come with it (thick flange style), the rear passenger window is cracked in a few places, some rust in the wheel wells and a small spot on the driver side rocker, clean up some wiring.

extra stuff im gonna do is, shackle flip, bucket seats in front, center console, 35's, chop fenders, stereo, lights, change out rear axle with my locked and discked 14FF, change out front axle with my locked 44 with crossover steering, new bumpers, winch.... ya know just to name a few lol.

the add:

1981 Chevy 3/4 ton Suburban.
engine: 350.
trans: 4sp manual.
Xfer: 208.
Front: 10 bolt.
Rear: 14 bolt.
Tire: 235/85/16 (about 32" tall) all terrains, OK for now.

Good:
Engine runs good, looks like it could have been rebuilt not long ago.
told it has a new clutch???? works good.
PW, all work including the tailgate.
PS.
4" lift.
runs and drive surprising well.
back seat looks new.
clear title.

Not a bad score.:waytogo: How much? It looks like a full floater out back, hard to tell from the picks though.

Semi-flaoters came out in the late 80s, I believe. Hubs are a dead giveaway, as FFs have the large cylinder sticking out, where the shaft bolts to.
Looks like a nice rig. You're gonna need to clean up that tailpan before it goes bad though.
Tap the inner/ outer rockers to make sure they don't crumble?
Power windows are a huge score on a tow rig this old, as well as working AC.
Good luck, but don't go too crazy. Remember it's gotta tow your rig, not BE your rig!

Oh, I see now, I thought it was in your plans to lift it. I guess I need to clean my glasses again...:doah:

?
I don't think this person understands. We're a non profit organization that tries to save these trucks and put them to good use....
It's not their choice if they "want" to sell us the truck or not.. we'll take it by force...:D
