I've gone through this twice. But I thought it was more of a salt belt problem.
No rust here, the truck is very clean, hardly any dirt up in the corners under the truck. The truck only has one rust issue and it isn't even that bad. It's on the passenger kick panel no idea how it even started.

I wonder if you could just leave the inner fenders off and relocate anything that's mounted to them. That way everyone could see your awesome coilovers. Plus you don't have to worry about mud covering the engine. Just a thought.

I don't want everyone to know about them. I want it to look like a normal old Chevy truck until you really start looking. Hopefully it will keep that pretty 6.0 clean too

Going to stop by the garage tonight and sand underneath the cab and bed. It just seems way easier to do it now then when the drive train is in....
Going to scuff it wipe it down with lacquer thinner then pick up some fancy paint cans from Sherwin Williams to match wades firewall.

I can try, the lighting is horrible with a single bulb that would be found in your house lamp.

The piece on the bottom left looks like a pet cock to drain a radiator. I think he's gonna make a meth pipe out of them. 
It might be only a temp sender adapter but it could also be for the steam ports as well. Hard to tell honestly.
Ben tell the GF she'll just have to get over me, I know it's hard to do but with time everything will be ok.

I was really hoping she was my in to.borrow the buggy.
It's a peep hole for the coolant with a air bleed and port for the steam vents so I don't have to drill and tamp the water pump or radiator.
I'll be leaving the garage soon, sanded cleaned and primed the bottom of the cab.

What are those vertical pieces of metal on the inside of the rocker panels??? Oh and what are rocker panels????
