Holy crap, never noticed that... What causes that? This truck has seen way more weight in the bed then it ever should have in it's life pulling trailers and hauling everything under the sun. I'm actually not surprised if it is.

I wonder if this is why the bed hasn't been able to allign for years with the cab. I just figure it was from lack of bolts holding it down.

Are those 315 75 16 on stock gm wheels? Looks good

Took a look at the frame, the 3 bed supports lay flat on the rails...

What do you guys think?
My experience says not to worry. I though that was how the bed floor got extra support. But I have found lots of trucks with the frame worn from the bed supports. I saw one with 1/16" or deeper wear spots, in the frame.
I don't remember seeing a truck that didn't have them touching the frame.

That was kind of what I was thinking.

Yes they are, I like it a lot fits inside the fenders perfectly.

I bent mine the first time when I went through the whoops too fast and almost endoed several times in a rod (looking at the ground floored in 4WD hoping the bumper wouldn't catch). Anyway, it bent the frame pretty bad, bed was all out of alignment with the cab. Before that the bed wasn't touching the frame and it was aligned perfectly. Then I got the frame bent back to factory specs on a hydraulic frame machine, and the bed was once again with a gap between the rails and the frame.

Well now, from regular wheeling and duning, nothing out of control but I guess not whimpy either, the frame is bent and it is touching again. It wasn't from weight, it was from impacts at speed. The axle is trying to go up and the bed is trying to go down and something has to give, and the 1/2 ton frame is apparently weaker than a 14BFF. I can see where mine bent right where the factory bends are.

If you have one of those digital levels the rear portion of the frame should be the exact same angle as the front. If that is true then you are probably fine. Another way to check is take an 8 foot level or straight edge, when mine was bent bad the bed was bowed up in the middle, not flat/straight from front to back. If its just barely touching the bed will still be straight still. If you can check that maybe it will make you feel better. Sorry , didn't mean to scare you. It just seems like your truck is used similar to mine with similar suspension (coilover front leaf rear) and so it appeared you might have the same problem I did. But I also weakened mine the first time I bent it when I almost flipped.

No worries completely understandable, I wonder sense mine is a long bed it makes a difference? If you can post up some pictures or link me. I'll snap some of mine in more detail.

I’ve seen first hand the k10s are seemingly more floppy in back vs the 3/4 ton trucks.. now mine is a c6p but I am not sure what that actually amounts to frame wise. But I can say for sure that we have had way more issues with k5 frames and half tons than the 3/4 tons and the longbed 3/4 tons have no easy life.. they just seem to take it better??? Might be a beam length thing or some resonance in the frame but who knows.. they are just not up to the abuse in some aspects..

I remember reading that when it happened it made me realize sh!t can go wrong quick.. one of the primary reasons I put a cage in my truck

Yes not only does the cage protect if you something happens but it also makes it much stronger, its likely the frame would of never bent if I had a cage.

I typically stay out of this thread because there is so much nothing going on.
But I just read the last 500 posts, my take away was: tacos, turbos, and going fast and overlanding.
Nothing in here ever makes any sense.

:dunno:

I'll check back in 500 posts to see how the the diesel rock crawling buggy conversion is going.

That's the way my entire life is a roller coaster, I think it's like that because I haven't had any real progress on something in over a year just been using the truck.

Wow talk about neglecting.... Moved out of the old lady's house haven't seen the truck in a month so why not spend money on it...

What do you guys recommend for weatherstrip on the door windows? everything I have is destroyed who makes quality.

I got mine from 1AAuto, mostly because they are a vendor here. Haven't had any trouble with them.

I was talking to a guy with a couple 66 C20's like mine and he recommended Ecklers but I don't know if they make square body stuff.

Not a bad idea, was looking at precision "PRP" but I'm not really sure what I need anymore. All I remember is the driver side has no window and I half installed the power windows on the passenger side and it's stuck half way.

I got some from 1aa auto also they fit decent and have been on there for a couple years.
