I love the trans that’s in it, you can feel all gear it’s built with a nice quick shift.

Never felt a trans bark 3rd gear before without a clutch.

I’m picking up the column for $350, who knows where I can get new parts?

That was about the "I don't like a manual" comment.
The only reason I didn't go with a manual in the Shop Truck is that it would have been even more expensive than the 4L85E I had built to be able to launch that heavy pig. Once I build a dedicated race car/truck, I'll likely put a manual into the shop truck. I just won't be able to do a hard launch if I take it drag racing.

Also, if you're serious about a 6 speed, I have a TR-6060 that I'm holding for a friend. Comes complete with a clutch and flywheel.

Not sure why but in a truck I don’t like a manual. Although a T56 does sound exciting.
That's likely because most truck manuals are made for towing, not for speed. So they have granny low 1st gears, and you can't shift them very fast.

Muscle/sports car manuals you can shift faster and they are lighter.

So the way you use your truck, it makes sense.

I also know farm guys that love the granny low manuals because they let their trucks idle with no one driving while they feed animals in the pasture from the moving bed or trailer. (I don't recommend that)

When I priced one that would take launching my burb it was $17k for the trans its self without the clutch, flywheel, etc. yeah, I'll go auto lol

They have shifter kits that make the dodge nv5600 shift faster, and more car like... But not for GM versions for some reason. I'm told you can still swap one in with effort. But I stopped looking into it.

You can build a Dodge transmission with chevrolet output

It to derail any further but a nv4500 with the later style bolt on shifter has much better shift quality and feel than the older style that was similar to the sm465 known dump true shifter. It’s no TREMEC 6 speed but you can shift pretty dang quick with it. The 2/3, 3/4 shifts are pretty clean in mine. Gearing is not optional if you are low on torque but the 8.1 stays pretty happy in front of it.

Core shifters used to make shorter throw shifters for the nv4500 and smaller nv3500’s but it seems like whenever I look they are always out of stock.

Still a 4500 isn’t optimal for going fast. Stick with the slush box.

I'm curious how that new Tremec TR4050 feels behind the 502 (8.2L) BBC when I get it together for the 73 blazer build.

So while we are on the topic of trannys I need to cool this thing better, either thinking of buying the correct fan for the cooler or just swapping and even bigger one in.

I'll have to dig up and find what cooler I have, I forget.

Derale sells a complete system with that cooler, I can ask if they sell the shroud seperately.

I can also look at comparable SPAL fans and see if they flow more air.

That is a much better design of a shroud then what I have on it now, if you could look into both I would appreciate that. Do you know what part number I got for the trans cooler?
