What I was just thinking, I have some 2x6's laying around. That that will do the trick? Knowing my luck, the entire thing would collapse and I would have a cherry picker in the street.

Yeah I didn't mean to put the blocks exactly where the shocks actually would mount. I meant just put them vertically between the frame and axle tube somewhere. Wood is strong. It will hold. Don't worry.
I want to be able to cycle to springs to get shock, bump stop and cross over clearences perfect.
Just cycle and write down all the measurements from the axle to a location on the frame. Then you know where the axle will be at bump and droop and you can build brackets and mounts accordingly. That's what I did and I had my springs in, taken out and apart, back in and cycled, taken out and back together and installed in one night.

That is another problem, I don't know where the drivetrain is going to end up.

For the bungs on the tierod and drag link, should I butt them up against the tube or leave a little room for a weld to go in the middle then maybe another weld on top of that?
Chamfer the tube. Slide all of the way in. A couple of V notches in the end of the tube will add strength.

Well I got the tie rod built, I didn't know how much beef it was until I stepped back and saw how really big it was. 
I spent another 2 and a half hours trying to get the pitman arm onto the steering box. It is a nightmare filing down those thick splines to index it correctly to the GM box.
