You younguns haven't been screwed over enough times to be upset.
I seriously think you guys are more upset then myself and I own the truck.
Waiting patiently for the city guy to call me back over the letter.

My truck has been know to sit in the same spot on the curb, broke down, for several months at the time while waiting on parts and/or money to fix it with, but my tag and insurance stay paid up even if I'm not driving it. That way they don't have anything to bother me about. The only time it's ever come close to being towed was when I broke a steering knuckle on the Air Force base where I work and I had to leave it in an empty parking lot on a jackstand for a few weeks until I could locate a replacement knuckle for it. The Security Forces were starting to leave notes on it and call my work number asking about it. I had to go down to their desk a couple of times and assure them it was about to be gone. I think they would have towed it if it would have had all four wheels on it.
But really, how is it hurting anyone to have your vehicle on your own property in pieces while you work on it? Babganoosh has been very careful to keep the noise down at night and keep it covered with a tarp so it doesn't offend any haughty neighbor types. Unfortunately, the tarp seems to have attracted unwanted attention.
He should have put a sign on it for a children's charity or something like that. Even a campaign sign for a local politician that's popular may have kept the fuzz off his back.![]()

You really are a good citizen man. The kids on my street are lucky I haven't ran them over yet. I have backed into two cars that were parked behind me because I couldn't see them (why do they make cars so low to the ground anyway?) One of them was totalled. So hopefully the neighbors know to steer clear of the (only) white guy with the beard.
One time I couldn't get the engine started and had flooded the carb, so I stood on the pedal until it started and of course it blew out a huge smoke screen that covered the entire block. My wife said there was a little girl doing a dance in the middle of the street beside the truck, and when the smoke started billowing out, she stopped dancing and ran home.
I would have paid money to see the little girl running home.
I want to eventually switch to a U joint steering shaft though.damn, i love that steering set up. i bet those heims would outlast any tie rod ever built.
i don't think your 2x4 front blocks is a good idea though. hahah
whats up with the bezel? were the guage holes bored out specifically for the autometer guages?
The 2x4 front blocks is to replicate the spring pack for clearances and so I can flex the truck with a floor jack. So you welded those threaded ends yourself? Those welds look good. When those code enforcement dorks come back around on the 26th, just show them those welds and I bet they won't have anything else to say.
