Your .035 is fine. Thats all I've ever used. My brother runs that in your welder all the time. Get to welding.

Most I will do on this is a tack, don't want to risk it. I would much rather use the .035 because I have a ton of it.

And give me my transmission jack back. Hehehe.

It's currently helping support the trans, I have a jack stand on the transfer case to.

Thank you, it doesn't seem like a lot of work but It took about a day to cut those links and have it centered correctly. :doah:

Had a little bit of accidents but worked through them and made it all pull together.
 
Forgot to mention, on the frame brackets, they don't fit snug on the frame, the lip that runs under the rails is about a 1/4 of a inch off.

Anybody got any Ideas to fix this? Maybe cut a piece of steel out and sandwich it together?

It's either that or slot the other holes to allow it to slide up the frame.

Initially I was gonna agree with you. Then I thought it might be better to "sandwich" a spacer. Slotted holes could, possibly let the bracket move... If it was going on my truck.... (imagine 7k lb K20 rock racer):whistle: Cruizin' the mall and posing on curbs? :thumb:
 
I was thinking a spacer made the same length out of steel then sammich it with the bolts then weld the side of the bracket to the frame.

7k lbs, why the fat joke?:haha:
 
I guess that would hold it if you did it right. Another option would be to make a shim from a flat piece of steel that's the perfect shape and thickness and weld it to the frame or the bracket. Or you could take the bracket down and try to knock your frame back square so it will fit right without any spacers. Or is that on the part you boxed already?
 
Haven't boxed any of the frame, the frame bracket is just taller then my frame in the area. I figure weld the shim onto the frame and run the 2 bolts through it and the frame.
 
Have you fully torqued the bolts down yet? I wonder if that would close the gap. I'm sure that old frame will bend a little.

I wonder if the gap is because this is a 2wd frame. Maybe they had different dimensions. If you're frame is like mine, it isn't very straight anyway.
 
It's just the picture I have like 12 inches to go up before it even comes close to hitting


I'm thinking it's because of the 2wd franet I know the shape is different for the leaf spring hangers
 
Also, if it makes it easier on you I'm sure you could just slide the plate in between the bracket and frame and weld it around the outside perimeter on just the three reachable sides. But I would imagine you are going to pull the brackets back off and paint them right?
