On this I agree, I got one shot at this and don't want to mess it up.
Ok back onto the frame plates still not clear on how to make then. Do I lay the plate over the weld of the shock hoops or does the plate go around the weld ?
My guess is that it would go around the weld so the plate can fit flush against the frame. Then just use multiple passes with the welder to connect the plate to the hoops. That's what I would do, at least.

Yep. Let the welds cool a little between passes so you don't blow through.

My guess would just be whatever one full weld pass would be. So maybe 3/16 ish
Got the links, the axle brackets, the hoops all welded up today. Even made a new friend that will teach me to weld for beer.

Going to put the 4 link back together this weekend, and get some plates made. I need a new pan hard bar or drag link. I swapped the ORD drag link to be the pan hard so the axle doesn't shift around on me.
