Increase the z value for your upper link on the axle end.

The links are tapering the wrong way and pushing your IC and other values way out in front of the vehicle. That's why some of the straight lines are "curvy" too.

So I have the ends swapped wrong? On the truck the frame brackets are in closer to the center then the axle brackets.

How does the ic work and what does it do?

Change the "19.75" value (Upper Link Axle End) to something larger than 20.5".....

Your upper link is sloping downward toward the front bumper. That's what's causing the issue with the calculator.

Hopefully that is NOT how you actually built the link mounts, and it was just a measurement error.

No you are correct it does angle up on the truck, those z axis measurements are all kinds of messed up on the axle end. I need to remeasure the spacing.

It's lots more interesting than my truck projects, as I'm in parts-collecting mode right now. Not sure what I could post up. Except pictures of parts. :rolleyes:

I can't even find pictures of building Big Blue a few years ago... :doah:

So for now I'm mostly just reading up. Thanks for the ideas and inspiration!

I could explain a few things, but it probably would make no sense. I know very little, just enough to get myself into trouble. I have done countless hours of reading and still can't get it all.

I just know on the truck nothing hits and it travels smoothly. :haha:

That looks like you're putting numbers in at full bump, you want them in at ride height.

And you need to re-measure stuff and double check what you put in each box, what you have in there isn't right. I'm 95% sure the links don't triangulate like that (if at all).

You're more than fine to put number in the calculator, but I'd assume that you bought our coilover setup for us to have figured out all of that for you. Trust, me, it works great. We've done hundreds, I have it on my own Blazer. And Blazer Bash is only two months away if you're still planning on that...

This is at ride height. It was more of a piece of mind seeing what it looked liked on paper, I bought the kit you offer just for that. :thumb: I have no doubt in mind it will work, I mainly put this together because I plan on creating a extensive PDF file of the truck for reference later on and potential diagnostics. I was going to ask for permission to post the numbers, didn't know if you guys would be offended any.

For some reason mine angle out from the frame to the axle brackets, it looks very drastic in the calculator. Sounds like I need to stand on the frame and get a picture.
 
I always thought the graph made the links look way more triangulated than they actually are. Also, yours is setup for like a low 4" lift right? I bet most of ORD customers are setting theres up closer to 6".
 
Yes 4 inches of lift low COG with 5.7 inches of bump travel. :eek1:


Blazer Bash would be cool but highly doubtfull this year.
 
Good god. Stop over thinking this.

Are the links in?
Do they articulate without binding?
Is bump steer minimal?

Finish the build already. For what you are going to be doing with the truck, nothing you calculate is going be able to be changed. Run it as is and get it done.
 
This thread/build has been going on for over 3 and a half years. All for 4" lift and 33s. I dont think "finish the build already" really applies.

The problem(that i have talked to Ben a good bit about) is he wants it DONE the first time it leaves the garage. Which i personally feel is a mistake. The other thing is this build wildly lacks direction. How can you finish a journey when you dont know where your going?

Anyway, just keep plugging along Ben. Another 3 and a half years and you'll meet your dream truck and it will be done.

I really don't mean to sound defensive, I'm not at all. But if you want to document what you have, what's in your calculator now isn't it.

You should re-measure all of that. What's your caster set at? The axle side mounting points should be pretty close to right on top of each other, they definitely aren't in the calculator. And the lower link being almost 20" from the ground at the axle side, I don't think my Blazer on 42's is that far from the ground. The lower link should be pretty close to inline with the axle tube centerline.

You also have the side/side separation of the links at the axle at 41.5", IIRC the ball joints center/center on a 10 bolt is ~53" (going off of memory but that's close). For that to be right, the links would need to be only 6-1/4" from ball joint center, this picture is from our project Suburban with a GM D44, your same frame brackets and a 4" lift height. I would measure again.

 
Oh I'm not changing it, I just wanted to see how it looked on paper. This is for my own personal service manual

Seems my guide to measuring was completely off... Well :poo: I'm at a loss of words on this one.
