Would 16 gauge 1x1 square tube be ok? I would gusset the corners along with having two cross bars. It's all I can get access to without having to beg someone.

It takes a lot of careful planning to get anything done.
1.50 tube from one side to the other would be a better way to build it.
Build with the plan to tie it into the roll cage. That way when you get a cage you can just tie the already built seat mount into it, and not have to make a whole new one.
Notch out the hump's and set the tube in them then your new seats will be about the same height as the old ones.

That is my plan, going to try to not notch anything though.
Seats will more then likely sit to high if you do not.
When I built my first set they were really short to keep them at the same height. I then re-did them to get a better lean to them. Once I got rid of the floor I had to do them again but knew that was coming with the sliders and full cage.

I will have the material this weekend, although it's 1/4 thick I can't complain for free...
I used 1" 11ga square tube.
What I'll be using is overkill, but it is a safety concern so I'm ok with that.
No seat frame yet, didn't have time over the weekend but I did get a new shock sense I broke the last one in moab.
Put the bench back in!

700r4 equipped truck and although the bench is cool it just doesn't fit anymore.
Material aquired for the seat frame, hopefully get some progress made. I wish ai could fab a lot faster.
Not a lot done, was semi working and watching the race today.
That's a strange looking roll bar.
It should make a lot more sense in a few days.
