Yup exactly my thinkingYou need one that goes in one side and out the other that fits in front of the radiator right behind the grill, you may need to make larger holes in the core support toward the bottom but outward of the radiator.

This is one I have looked into but I think my radiator is to big for it to go around.@AgDieseler has one mounted
The LB7 intercooler is made to fit around the larger diesel size radiator, especially if you don’t have big oil coolers in either tank. This is one I have looked into but I think my radiator is to big for it to go around.
Thinking about it now, the intercooler doesn't have to be as wide as the radiator just the hoses need to go around it.

I'm just going to grab a can of primer and do it that way. The vinyl is basically a big sticker. Can you wrap bare metal or does it need to be painted to avoid rusting under the vinyl?
Be aware, primer doesn't seal out water. It'll rust under primer.I'm just going to grab a can of primer and do it that way. The vinyl is basically a big sticker.
Good point, maybe it will get a 3rd coat of paint just because.Be aware, primer doesn't seal out water. It'll rust under primer.
I've always heard primer absorbs water. Like if you leave a whole vehicle primer grey it will rust faster.Be aware, primer doesn't seal out water. It'll rust under primer.
can confirm this, at least my old 76 K5 canI've always heard primer absorbs water. Like if you leave a whole vehicle primer grey it will rust faster.
Well he had a custom radiator and the duramax intercooler. After reading @AgDieseler thread the duramax intercooler looks like it needs a lot of work, I'm trying not to do that much but I know it will need something. Sure would hate to have to redesign a new AMD core support on it's way.
I stand corrected, he did use the first gen intercooler but used a narrower aluminum radiator aftermarket that is thicker. The stock diesel radiator was too wide. After reading @AgDieseler thread the duramax intercooler looks like it needs a lot of work, I'm trying not to do that much but I know it will need something. People pay big money for that look today!Remember how I said I was battling the rain? This is what the rain did and what it looks like now.

One I did a few yrs ago, I did cap the supports, hindsight should have used a larger IC.
