kennyw submitted a new Build:

1982 Chevy K30 Dually

Found the truck I was looking for for the last 20 years...

One original owner before me.
1982 Chevy K30 Silverado
6.2L Goodwrench crate motor (no idea when it was put in)
SM465
NP205
D60/D70 with low gears (tops out at 50 mph on the highway, 60 mph is very loud)
Body is straight and rust free with very good paint.
Bed liner in the bed and what I can see under it doesn't have any dents.
Odometer shows 84K, could be 184K or 284K for all I know.

In the future I plan to add an OD unit or NV4500, 2" max lift and dual 33-35" tires. Other than little stuff, I just plan to drive and enjoy it.

WOW! That things clean inside & out!

You got yourself a real beauty there Kenny!! Where is the "green with envy" smilie? :waytogo:

That color combo is awesome, and you get the nice interior with the SM465.

Thats an odd one there.

Great find.

I really like it.... I was just completely surprised to find a truck that fit my wanted ad so perfectly. I usually end up buying something nothing like what I want and have to change everything.

So why the build thread?
If you found what you wanted and all you are doing is slightly bigger tires.
It's actually refreshing to find exactly what you are looking for.
:thumb:

One time I found almost exactly what I was looking for, a suburban with barn doors, lifted 2" with 33" tires, and a Banks turboed 6.2/700r4/241
The only problem was the body had a little of rust damage, I drove it for a couple of months and ended up selling it and making some money, because I needed it.
Now I have the perfect candidate, clean and setup right, but I need to get a better engine for it, so I need to do some work.
I think I already found the right engine, will know soon.

a guy I used to work with had that identical truck except it had a 454 same color scheme and all, when he first got it it was as clean....probably cleaner, but he ****ed it all up, it was such a shame, his dad was the original owner

There will be a little more than that over time. I just have to get back to work before I spend any more money.

Once you are ready to get the A/C back in there and you don't want to buy new let me know.
I have an 88 diesel with A/C:D

So is it yours? Did you buy it?

Don't think there is any way to make an OD unit work in such a short wheelbase. Sounds like an NV4500 swap would be the way to go.

Lots of people have put OD boxes in regular cab longbed trucks. Totally common.
