1982 Chevy K30 Dually

If you have to pull it, if its not damaged too bad just rebuild it and throw a turbo on it. Much easier to do that verses a LS swap.

Too many people doing LS swaps nowadays. Course I like to different and a 6.2 is.

I like the 6.2L motors as a cheap way of getting by for a couple years. But, I am getting to the point where I want something that will last reliably for 10-20 years. The 6.2/6.5 are not quite there.

Ideally, I would want a newer 6.6L Duramax. I just don't have that kind of money available if I have to replace the motor now.

I have found running/driving 6.0L trucks for under $2000 that could give me 90% of the parts needed for a new motor. Plus, a lot of extra parts to resell and recover about half of the purchase price. A stock 6.0L will give me double the power for about the same cost as rebuilding the 6.2L myself. I don't care about the fuel economy due to the low mileage I put on the truck each year.

True, if you can find running trucks that cheap. It makes the swap very cheap to almost break even cost wise. Then it makes sense to do and gain all the extra hp/tq. They are very capable engines the 6.0.

Me, I'm a screwball that likes being different just cause. Hence why mine stays 6.5 powered.

If I was going to all the trouble it would be for an 8100.

I am beginning to think the oil gauge may be just an electrical issue. I replaced the sending unit and started getting good readings off and on. It will be fine for 20 minutes then drop again only to go back to normal 30 minutes later. My fuel tank transfer switch started working again in the process of trying to figure this out (it had quit working after redoing the head gaskets).

The ground wire between the rear of the head and the cab was spliced in two places so I replaced that today. I also found the screw hole was stripped out on the cab side so I still have some work to do there.

Due to common sense/practical thinking, I ended up selling it on eBay this week. But, I will pickup my last project, 1989 K5, as a result. Plus use the extra cash to pay down some debt.

How'd you do on it? At least its heading somewhere that wont' rust it out!

I got what I wanted out of it. And the guy is a good fit for this site and will take care of it. He just doesn't use computers much. But I gave him the website.
