Hossbaby said that because 6.2's are low output engines and have a hard time keeping up with a BBC, I'll give you that one. A 454 cranks out more power than a 6.2 torque and HP.

originally posted by rjfguitarI would consider a Cat 3208 or 3116 if you are a really good fabricator and mechanic and don't mind using an Allison auto or Clark manual tranny. Next I would consider a 5.9 Cummins, then a 3.9 Cummins, and finally a 6.5 TD. I wouldn't go gas myself because it is so expensive to feed them and a diesel will outpull a stock 454 anyway, besides a 6.2 and stock 3.9 4BT.

my whole point was that a turboed 6.2 with more torque than a bbc will get outpulled when it has to face an incline. i was agreeing that newer cummins will out pull a bbc uphill and everywhere else.

A 454 will barely outpull a 6.2 that is turbo equipped. Steve Fox (that would be our administrator) has a Vortec 454 in his 3/4 Suburban, it pulls all the way down the 28MPH in some of the hills there in CO.

A stock cummins from a 1994 Cummins dodge with the NV4500 will outpull any stock 454 in any hill, both would loose speed going up a grade but the cummins will maintain a higher speed than a 454 and that is a FACT and you can take that all the way to the bank. I'm done with this thread because you think everything you know is the almighty truth.

Dirtwarrior, you have email and I strongly suggest you check it now.

I'm closing this thread too...
