Figure I should make a thread on this, not really a build thread but more to get opinions, maybe some people will have some parts to sell that would help out etc.

First off this thing has a good amount of cobble jobs done by PO's. The suspension is super awesome....

She doesnt make a ton of money and wrapped most of her extra fun money on buying this. So just looking to get it a bit more safe and dependable etc, but on the cheap. She just wants to be able to DD it in the summer and cruise around the dunes. She can hop in mine to get a go fast fix.

It has a nice greasy old 350 that starts right up and seems to run good. A th350 that seems to shift decent. 205 tcase, 14bff rear, and 3/4 ton 10b front. Open and open from what I can tell. She is getting a parts truck from a cousin for free or dirt cheap with a 40k mile 350, and an sm465 that she wants to swap in at some point.

Im thinking for the suspension, find some small lift springs, and some 4" blocks, then turn the ladder bars its got in the rear into anti wraps via a simple crossmember and some shackles. And then a set of 6" springs for the front, hopefully used, which I think will net enough lift to take the 3" body lift off, and maybe swap for a 1" instead.

Im not gonna hop in and do all the work, and im not gonna fund it. This is gonna be all on her. Ill help do lots of things definitely. But this will be her build.

Her baja belted also scare the living **** out of me, the side walls are not just cracked but one of them literally is just loosing chunks. Not the tread but the sidewalls.... :eek1:

She really likes the wide tires, but cant afford a nice set of baja claws or other new tires that they actually make wide.

But I found a guy on greatlakes4x4 today that told me $300 obo for the set of these (after I asked what price was without the jeep wheels) ones that appear to be in much better shape. Thinking $250 and she could have them easy. They are a little bigger than her 35s, but that shouldnt matter. Thats a killer deal for some wide tires, and these work awesome in sand.

Dude! Perfect tires for a burnout video! Put them on some old steelies, hook them up to somethin with some horsepower and burnem down till they pop. :eek1::haha:

As soon as I get my 8.1 swap finished, I'm going to do exactly that. Torture test everything, in style. A couple of old rims and tires from the junk yard, bigger the better, a video camera and a chunk of pavement that no one cares about. Peel out till there is no rubber left on the rim. :D :saweet:

I could prolly get her to do that. Sometimes it squawks the tires at stoplights and she gets all giddy haha.

Lol. Gotta save the wheels. They are quite wide, dont wanna trash em. But I have seen that one.

That's why I said put them on some old steelies from the junk yard. Peel out man! Just the fun had doing something like that is worth the time and cost, if any, to get it done. :haha:

Well with your knowledge and stuff it should end up alright.

What brand is her lift? Just taking the traction lift out might help a ton.

Oh and yes please burn those old mickeyts TO THE GROUND

I have no idea how to identify the lift on hand. But it has far too many thick leafs for my liking....

If I could get a shackle flip I would totally do the ford 57s in the rear with a small block. Those would kill in a pickup with no weight in the back and are wicked cheap.

But I also have my old 52s that are in perfectly ok shape, and would work fine with shackle flip and small block as well. Or just big block.

Im not really afraid of blocks after nates old super duty had like 8" blocks on it and never had any issues...

Perfectly ok shape :haha: gonna start using that one

Yah get on it man what young lady doesn't want 500 instant overprotective older brothers :dunno:

haha its not a bad phrase. Its like these are perfect old used things right?

And yah I havnt scared her off yet, but i might wait to introduce you guys for a minute :haha:

I did tell her i started this thread and she seemed excited.

It's ok we all are going to meet her anyway at the dune party 2016

Seems like she outta get some new shoes on it, and drive it while. See what she hates/doesn't work and go from there. Cant wait to see where it goes.......

Though a comfy seat, decent stereo would be a good place to start after its mechanically sound. Safe+comfy=enjoyable:waytogo:

It has comfy bench and good stereo already.

It needs suspension that doesnt lock up the seat belts on every bump....

Babas GF Not coming to Moab for BB has forced me to move my sights to the upper mid west. :)
