1983 shortbed/ stepside build thread

a lil more......

as i made my last pass the 208 got all jammed up and i only had low range, then the trans only had forward gears, so i aquired the 465/205 and swapped it in, i have no pics of that but it got then all new axle joints and seals. had a drive shaft made to fit and so far so good with new tranny mounts....the crossover is all skys and works perfect every time with my 1977 2wd box, the 14bolt is a 1974 with the cucv 14bolt guts and now disk brakes, the 350 is a 1974 also, bored .040 over. 1/4 domed pistons, bowtie heads with 2.055 valves and a bunch of go fast parts, i wont bore everyone with. its around 450 hp....later in the summer it will get new doors, fenders, cowl hood and fresh paint....then a new winch..........

i think it sounds good for how much the exhaust job was, flowmasters or something like that would sound better tho. its not much of a video but it a lil taste until i get the rest up....

Are those flairs cut out without rivit pockets? or just extenda flairs?

What I mean is do you trim the fender to put those on? I think they would look good on my 77.

the fronts are old warn cutouts without pockets, they screw on the inside and double sided tape, the rears are bushwacker pocket style cutouts....you dont trim the top of the fenders just the front and rear, i have both sets since the fenders came with the flares and i already had the rears.

cool build up for sure, but when your in mud, you want your tires slinging the mud, you want your speedo doing like 40mph, your tires were barely moving in the video.

my 208 only had low range and i had to mess with it to get that, so now with my 205 that i put in it should be real good and high range works perfectly...this year it will be much better. yea in low range at 5000 they didnt spin fast at all..

the right front is on a ramp in front of the garage, the rear right is off the pavement...it sits perfectly level with a bubble level, the shackles angle 26 degrees. the red i tried, i wana paint the rest of my add ons red soon.
