1984 Honda CRX- First year of the CRX

1.5 Liter Engine- About 99,000 miles. Bought the car last spring with around 86,000 miles on it and have used it as my daily driver ever since. Car drives great. Selling it because I want a Covette!

No cruise, power steering, or A/C. AM/FM radio works but speakers dont sound good.

THE GOOD:
Newer tires with good tread, Front disk brakes, low miles for a car of its age. Very little rust for an Iowa Car. Weber Carb conversion done a few months ago because original carb leaked. New carb gave it more horse power but fuel economy isn't as good. About 20-25 MPG, was about 30 MPG before. Interior in pretty good shape, rear carpet has been replaced by previous owner. I have all original paper work. This car came from Holmes Honda in Des Moines in 1984. Cluch is good, all gears work good, brakes work good. Heat works good. Dash works good. Great DRIVER!!!

THE BAD: Hole in front drivers side fender, I bought it like this. Front fenders on these cars are plastic and replacement fenders are pretty cheap on ebay. Behind the drivers door someone did a hit and run this winter which broke off some of the body molding and left a little dent. E-Brake cable needs adjustment. Heat shield on CAT needs to be tacked down.

I currently have this car in Ames, Iowa at school with me. Would like it to be picked up but have a friend who would ship it, not sure on the shipping price though.

84 model has a 1.3 engine. In 85 they came out with the 1.5 and the 1.3 became the HF model. Did you put that carb on it, or did the PO? Reason I ask is that when I sold mine a few years back, I was getting 42 mpg when I shifted with the light, and 36 if I drove it like I rented it. Man, do I wish I still had it.

No, 1.5 was offered in 1984... It was an option. 1985 was the advent of the SI verion which was fuel injected. I installed the new weber in january. It gets worse gas milage but has more power. It gets about 20-50 MPG it used to get about 30.

Your valvecover is metal, that is the 1.5. It just looked different with that carb I guess.

20-50mpg, thats a pretty big range.

Do these CRX's have some sort of collector following?

I'm not trying to be harsh - you obviously like this car, but $3k seems like a helluva lot for an '84 Honda even if it was pristine. My first guess would have put it under $1k...but I don't know much about these, either, I guess
