1984 stepside

I dig the rig. Ever since seeing glenns rig in person, I now see stepsides a bit differently and really like the look.

Yeah...My K10 turns way more heads than a typical '83 should...
The Suburban, OTOH, doesn't attract any attention.

Must be the stepside. :dunno:

I've liked stepsides since I rode in PawPaws 65 as a kid...and the one on CHiPs was cool too...:pimp:

got the title and plates taken care of so now I can move forward on mods for it...... after Christmas lol

Saturday I took my kid out sledding for his first time, he had a blast, went by himself on the first time lol.

he got a better idea of how it worked on his next one

and since this is my thread about my truck

nothing picture worthy but I rebuilt the front driveline yesterday, took way longer than it should have, ended up rebuilding the cv along with changing u-joints. my son was there the whole time asking all kinds of questions, so proud to have a 3yo who is interested in trucks.

about a month ago the truck came up with a problem where I had to keep it half choked off just to be able to drive it. hooked up a transducer in the fuel line and took it for a drive to check fuel pressure under a load. at an idle this engine needs 4psi and at full throttle it needs about 9psi, I had 4 psi at an idle and clear down to 3.1psi at full throttle. it took me a month to finally get a day and weather to work on this, but.....

today I said good bye to the piece of junk fuel starver

and said hello to old reliable

I still had a little stumble when bumping the throttle so I went to adjust my carb set screws, and one had backed out like 3 turns (I had just adjusted it a month ago). little lock tite and we should be good there. all in all it runs and starts a lot easier now, don't have to crank it for a minute to get it to fire up.

also since I was at it, I installed my new tailgate hinges, I only had one in there and a bolt shoved in backwards on the other side. theres not that much gap normally, I had the gate shoved to one side.

pulled the engine the other weekend and replaced all the gaskets, didn't put the new oil pan on because it had the dipstick on the wrong side.

the other day I built a temporary bed rack to mount the tent onto so I can get it to Elko. I am leaving this Sunday, so trying to tie things up as best I can, I have to come back at the end of the month for the wife, kid, and the rest of our stuff.

Very cool, you might want that a bit higher if your thinking long term. Here's how I mounted mine.

its just a temporary one, when I build a final one it will be up higher

I built mine lower to cut wind drag (which works great) but its still to low, wish it was a little higher for under tent storage. Even 4 inches would be better. I will raise it someday.
