Soon to be up for sale is my 1985 K5, 6.2L Diesel, 4WD, Banks sidewinder turbo kit (with boost gauge and pyrometer). 224K miles. View pics at http://s1074.photobucket.com/albums/w409/dagsmcd/

Bought this as a third vehicle for hunting and New England snow. The former owner did significant work, including rebuilding the TH700R4 (3.42 gears), tranfser case and rear axle. He also cleaned the heads and injectors, added a rear stabilizer bar, and replaced all suspension components.

When I bought it in 2008, I had JE Robison of Springfield, MA replace any floor panels that had rust and coat the undercarriage with WAXOYL. I also upgraded the interior with Mastercraft Baja off-road seats (heated!), Tuffy lock box, new carpet and panels from LMC Truck. Truck is all power with windows and tailgate in great working order as I had all of those motors replaced. New Kenwood satellite radio and Garmin 5 inch GPS will also go with the truck. The truck has always been garaged when not in use. New Pro Comp 32.5x11X15’s with less than 1000 miles on them as well. With the Banks turbo, this thing cruises and yet I still get an estimated 22-24 mpg.

So why am I selling? Well, like any older truck, it has the occasional issue and the fact is, I am not the kind of guy who does the work himself. For example, when the starter went a while back, it cost me almost $700. I do not even do oil changes myself, so it adds up for a third vehicle that I only drive occasionally. And now I am moving with the new wife to a house with a 2-car garage so there is no room for the truck.

Current issues: An innocuos AT fluid leak that I notice on the garage floor if I leave it sitting for a week or more. Heat blows nice and hot in the winter but A/C is barely cool – it is the original system so recharging might or might not help but even if it does, that will certainly not last long. Cruise control does not work, nor does the intermittent switch on the wipers. The only rust I see is just surface rust on the leaf springs, door rockers and a minor bubble above the left rear wheel well (see pics). No pitting or deterioration anywere. The doors neeed to be adjusted as it takes a good slam to get them shut tight. I also just took a huge rock on the highway so I need to replace the windshield.

I think this will be a steal for someone who knows his way around an engine and can do the regular maintenance and an occasional fix himself. But I have no idea what the market is these days. There seems to be a wide price range on Ebay from the complete rehabs to the fully restored and I feel like this falls in between somewhere.

Accordingly, I would appreciate any suggestions on how to price it. I was thinking around $7500 but wanted to get some feedback before I list so I do not over or under price. Many thanks.

Bear in mind I don't live in the rust belt. If I am looking for a basically stock ( I know banks turbo which is awesome) and was planning on spending 7500 the truck would need to literally be perfect. With all receipts of work done.

That's a dang nice truck though out here you could probably get 4-5k for it but it would take a while to sell.

In the rust belt I bet your 7500 price might not be too far off

Understood. I do have all receipts but obviousy, the truck is not perfectly prestine and I have not made any serious off-road modifications. Figure shipping to across the country has to run 800 or so (I am in Connecticut) so I need to factor that in to a buyer's mentality. Maybe I will start it at 4200.

Is an Ebay listing considered viable by the folks here -- I just figure that the denizens of this website will have a greater appreciation for the truck.

And since it is diesel, I wonder if it would have appeal to any of those veggie drivers? It would be quite a unique machine if converted, I suppose.

Listed locally in CT ...

for 5200 on Craigslist. Have not yet put it on EBAY. Of course, if anyone here has interest, please send me a PM. Certainly willing to negotiate with anyone here for less. Thanks.

Well goodluck, seems like a nice truck.I've had my diesel military blazer for sale on here and elsewhere since february for $2800. and haven't had anyone even actually look at it yet.The markets pretty tough right now.
