1986 M1008 Rebuild

Damn Keith gets there before me. Are they 19.5s? Oh well I have no money.

By the way David you have a sickness man. A truly awesome one. :D

scrap the body its Alum. might be worth something :D

Yeah but it's actually worth more to me as storage, The container next to it I bought for 2200.00 over 6 years ago and have my air compressor and material rack in it. This will hold more material plus other junk that is above my office. I really had been considering buying another container and this just seems perfect plus mobile.

Wheels and tires eight lug ? are they 19.5 ?

Yeah there 19.5 8 lug with Hankook 245/70 R19.5 in the front and Yokohama 225/70 R19.5 in the rear.

I still need to make sure that I can just bolt up some regular roller 8 lug to keep it mobile.

From the looks of it this chassis in this van is very similar to my 1 ton buggy so I'm thinking this thing might just bolt right in:whistle:

Beutiful rig man, I think the plan is good to raise the rear coilver upper mounting point to the upper bar, looks like it would work awesome, 16" of travel is sweet!

The weather is nice so time to get the buggy going again.
I plan on doing some tube work in the front plus trimming the firewall much narrower. Also gonna put on a aluminum radiator, winch and some ctm u-joints in the front 60.

There will be about 6 inches coming off each side of the fire wall:D plus the eyebrows are coming off to and I'll be going with something that offers a little more head room since I've already smacked it good:doah:

There will also be skins going back on somehow. I plan on using a hood from a 73-80 since it goes all the way to the cowl then from there to the tube above the dash will be a cover plate made of steel to help tie in the firewall, it's a little wobbly now:whistle: Here is a pic of what I'm going for.

I cut the frame flush with the front body mounts and removed the cross member by the power steering box. The plan is to sleeve and box that area plus build another cross member that supports the bottom of the radiator. It's gonna get tight on me with the radiator and electric fan but it's gonna work.

I'm gonna use a zero rate to push the axle forward an inch and a half & if everything clears with the steering this should give me the maximum approach angle with these Tuff country easy ride springs.
I'm gonna replace my motor mounts with poly and cut the engine cross member out next. Then start cutting the firewall for tube that gets delivered on Friday.

Also this is all just temporary until the k5 project is done then the whole front frame is gonna get cut off and rebuilt with tube to fit a 6.0 vortec and linked
Yeah I know I keep changing my mind on the power plant:woot:

The 6.2 is why I like the trugy the most . Why didn't you instal the 4bt ? Both the 6.0 or 4bt cummins would be grate for lighting the truck up ,looks grate and can't wate to go weelen and see it in action !

The 4bt(800) is actually 50lbs heavier than the 6.2(750) from my research at least. The 6.2 will stay put for a while but the 5.3 or 6.0 will give me the throttle response I desire:D
