1987 K5 gets a LQ4

I got an np241 with a 32 spline I swapped in for sale. Has SYE already. But it’s mechanical speedo. Dakota digital makes an adapter to convert the mechanical signal to an electronic for LS swaps.

Oh man thats just what i need, and with the sye already! Sweet! Wouldnt be bad to convert it to elec either. Just a little out of my price range right now and im sure the shipping wouldnt be cheap either. If you still have it in a month or two maybe we can talk after i get my tax return back.

Sounds good. Good luck in your search. It probably is more cost efficient to find a 27 and do the swap yourself. It really isn’t hard. Word of advice tough, make sure you have a good set of lock ring pliers.

Too bad you're not closer I have a 241 out of a 90 3/4 ton Burb sitting in my garage with the 32 spline input and VSS that I'm not using any more...

Like the other guys said only the 90 & 91 models will have the setup you need (passenger drop & VSS) so they're a little harder to find. If you're not opposed to swapping input shafts that'll open up your options with Blazers and 1/2 ton Burbs also having the 27 spline versions... Have you tried car-part.com? It can be handy searching nearby dismantlers and searching for odd combinations. Looks like there's a few options near Culterville, MI if you don't mind driving a bit:

Yeah thanks! We get a lot of stuff off there at work, thats where ive been looking. Just gotta find time to go get one, as most those places arent open on saturdays and i cant really take anytime off of work for now. Maybe ill see if any can ship me one too.

Yah finding 241's in the yard suck. I tried looking for the 241D that had a fixed yoke for awhile but could never find one. Just decided to stay mechanical for now go with the JB fab SYE, then use a dakota digital when I ls swap. Plenty of drivers drop 241's with vss, its a shame none of those parts really swap over.

This going to be running by July? If so make sure you register for dunefest and meet us in the dunes!

So the dodge 241s will bolt up?? Im in no rush trying to find one, just keep checking cl and car part evey couple days. Hopefully one pops up soon. And yessir! The plan is to have it running by april/may: and hope to have most of the bugs worked out to bring it up there. Hoping to be up a few times his summer with my brother in law whos got a 3.8 supercharged buggy, and we have friends who stay up there most of the summer.

The dodge ones work with an input swap, just like a 27 to 32 swap

Like @Justin V said the dodge will work with an input swap. I’m actually running a Chevy 241 in my dodge. Only difference other than the input that I noticed was the front output on the Chevy case has a flange that sticks out a couple inches further than the dodge.

81AFB995-41D6-4BDD-8260-41A042964432.jpeg Sorry for the lack of updates. Hard to get motivated when the garage is always so cold and i dont really like sucking in the kerosene heater fumes for too long. But we had some decent weather saturday so i got out there and at least got the bumper and rad support off and the pcm/wiring detatched ready for the engine to come out. Almost have the wiring harness and fuse block all done from the donor truck, been doing that in our basement so thats been nice to do lately. Hopefully if theres a nice saturday in the next few weeks i can borrow our cherry picker from work and pull both motors.

You better be sorry! Lol jk. Working in the cold sucks.

Hey I just noticed your signature. :waytogo:

D9B19DA8-F664-40EF-AF78-11D2045E4372.jpegFinally got the harness done tonight, just need to pick up a few more feet of 1” loom to finish up by the pcm connectors. Speeking of pcm, i havent really thought much about where to send it to get it programmed. Any one have any suggestions? I know the lt1 swap guy can do it for only $75 shipped, but thats for just the basics, ie removing evap stuff, torque management, rear O2s etc. I guess im not really changing anything in the motor except for adding headers. Will anything need to be programed in the pcm for those? Or do you think ill be fine having him do it? Seems like a decent deal to me.

Not sure what Lenger Racing out of GR charges, but he seemed to do a decent job tuning nates 4.8 in his C30. Thats if you are looking for someone local. Thats hard to beat the price for 75 bucks. An efi live license cost 125, and HP tuners credits are pricey as well unless you do it for job and purchased the unlimited package.
