Drivers side power window quit working about 2" from closed. trying to make it go up or down it now just makes a grinding/clicking noise.
I plan to pull it apart but anyone experienced this and what is the problem?

It could be a bad connection, but it's probably the electric motor that lets the window up and down. Try turning the ignition to the appropriate position and bumping the door panel with your fist while you hold the button to let it up. If this works, it's probably because the brushes or whatever inside the electric motor are going bad. One time my driver's side window wouldn't let up at all, so I took the door panel off and started trying to take the motor out to replace it. I was having a hard time getting it out, so I decided to try the button once more and the window went up! I guess all my jiggling around of the motor must have somehow restored the connection that was loose inside the motor.

Anyway, you'll probably end up replacing the motor though. They're not expensive, and the window will let up faster than you ever remember it going up before.

The motor is working, but the window is not moving... sound slike the drive cog stripped to me, but as I have never taken one of these apart I dont know the inner workings yet..

From what I remember (its been a while sine I had one apart) the gears to actuate the arm and the electric motor are all contained in on unit. Youll probably end up replacing the motor. That is unless the teeth that are on the regulator or arm are stripped. Open it up and see whats going on in there, theyre very simple.

Mine did the same thing. It was the regulator teeth. I used mt palm to push the window up slightly and the motor grabbed onto the next good teeth on the regulator. Just my 2 cents.
